well my point wasnt about it drying faster.. i never said speed was essential in any spray job.

my point was that at night, things get wet, and that doesnt always result in perfect painting.

and when i mean spray in the day, i dont mean like noon or something. my opinion on what would be a good time would be 7? onwards.. where its only starting to get hot.

u can do a good job spray painting at night, i dont believe u can't. and i trust bear when he says he's done a few good paint jobs. but all im saying is that, i think its better in the day.

to each his own.

aight bro. no problemo.

just saying what i think.

been doing graffiti for 7 years now so i think i know enough.

not saying youre wrong.

u can see my works http://r-aiz.deviantart.com/gallery/

thanks for ur comments btw. good to see people talking in here.. =)

Day painting is better. The paint vents faster and so dries faster. Colder temp does not make paint more even, infact higher pressure is better.

Why professional painter needs oven? Dunno dun mislead.

Throw in free advice. Those cans of spray which are low on pressure when close to finishing, put them in warm water to bring up the pressure. Higher pressure means the mist is finer..

ure right when u say cold temp doesnt make paint much more even. that can be due to other things like the texture of surface. but it is stated that low pressure does give u better control, less overspray and finer finish.

professional painter needs oven to bake the paint bro.. lol

the paint they use is powder coat. Different kind of paint.

i know this from my friend who is in Product Industrial Design.

its true that when u put in warm water, it will lead to higher pressure.

i suggest that those who keep spraycans keep them bottoms up. (a trick of the trade)

other than that, lets go OUTING!

and bear, i finished the yamaha word design. but im afraid that the cutting of the dsign would cost quite alot becos they need to use precision cutting like laser. so now i still dont have the yamaha word at the side.. lol

just wondering what's the tank capacity of rxk 135? including the reserve

8 litres.....i guess. :cheeky:

its 9 litres. had a problem with the fuel-*switch. so, had to push the bike to the nearest petrol station.

Mine full thank is 7.5 litres. Each litre giving me approx more than 30-32km.

Pls do not argue abt spraying in the day or in the nite. I only quote "Do not spray at direct sunlight(hot)'. I did not say abt 'day painting' or 'nite painting', actually make no difference, if u r good at spraying, meaning, u are good. Just need the time to practice n u r good to go independent, i only give u ppl the guideline on the 'how to'.

We/i, will try our best to give advice and alternative solutions to suit yr needs n not to CRITIC! The juniors here also please do yr part by finding out things yrself first or maybe ATTENDENT A MEET-UP to Answer yr Doubts. Please dun expect to be spoon-fed. If u paiseh to meet the others, u can always meet me.

Bear, i need your opinion whether is it advisable to change/convert the front disc brake to drum brakes.

It's time for me to fix my brakes and this matter suddenly crosses my mind just to achieve the classic look.

Dun waste yr money converting yr brakes.I noe it look cool but the disc brake are way better than the drum brake for safety reason. I mean it seriously.

Gd to see ppl are 'communicating' well in tis thread. Well, i see the serious need of a meet-up to keep the K community together. Since we share the same passion of owning this bike, i dun see why we can't meet each other face to face rather than hide behind the PC screen. I believe there is 24hrs in a day, i just need at least 1 hr(if u r generous enuff) to meet the wonderful faces of the owners of the K. But sigh......i keep seeing the same dedicated ppl around. So dissapointed, sumore still have to answer questions in tis thread..... I DEMAND KOPI!

Low pressure is gonna make the paint particles bigger??? I do airbrush and there's a certain level where u cant go below or u have splattering. Only way i knw of to prevent splattering = higher pressure to make the mist finer.

I've always heard of painters overseas not able to paint in cold weather. Never the other way round.

Powder coating is a different process altogether from painting. Industrial painting is a 2part paint similiar to epoxy. It requires a catalyst to make it harden and temperature speeds up the process.

Am i not right?

Anyway i doubt PDI or Graffiti is needed or does replicate the kind of high gloss finish in automotive painting.

I am not an expert but i know my stuff well too. Feel free to input.

Its not that the paint particles are bigger. according to physics, the particles would slow down and thus there is less collison between particles, making pressure low.

we were talking bout spraycans. but i have never used an airbrush, so i cant comment on that bro. maybe u can teach me?

and it is true that some painters are not able to paint in cold weather. However, those are extreme weather conditions. im just saying in Singapore context la bro.

As a matter of fact, PID does. you can come by Temasek design school to see the finishes on their products made by either the students or the companies the student send their concept designs to. damn swee.. i oso jealous.

Other than that, guys, u wanna make gathering on Saturday or Sunday?

BTW guys is the RX-K tank can be molded? or replaced by otr tanks? I'm looking for a more curve tank than a rectangular tank which RX K have. Thinking to make it into a cafe racer look alike... Sourcing at tractor lane tomorrow
