Motorcycle rules in Singapore with only car license!

Hi Guys

 

 

I’m an exchange student with a VERY strong urge to own a small motorcycle here in lovely Singapore.

 

But, I'm not sure about the rules. I only have an international drivers license, but no actual motorcycle license. However, in most countries you can drive small motorcycles on a normal car license!?

 

What are the rules here?

How big is legal (HP / Cc)?

What about insurance, anything I should consider, what are the prices?

even for foreigners.. which i seen them taking class 2B (200cc n below) @ ssdc.. so u'll probably need to take the whole course for motorcycles..

Hmm, doesn’t seem like Im going to ride anything more than a bicycle here in Singapore.

 

I still don't quite get it, because i have what you would call an "class 3" license, can't you guys ride motorcycles on that one??? Or do you have multiple licenses.

 

I really hate all these rules.

 

Anyways thanks for the help. I’m from Denmark by the way. And I’m only here for about four mounts, so I don't think it makes sense to buy a bike, if I have to start a course to do so... How long does it take, by the way?

Too bad since you are in sg, you have to follow the laws here.

Don't think you can finish the course in time. You need to attend 5 theory lessons, 1 theory test, 13 practical lessons (min) and the TP test.

 

The waiting time for the theory and TP test is typically 2 weeks to a month.

Where are u from?

 

Firstly, Did your international licence indicated small cc motorcycle? If not, It is best to check with the Traffic Police.

 

Secondly, U would need to check with the insurers regarding the coverage as u would need a valid insurance to cover you before you are allowed to be on the road.

4 months is more then enough time to acquire a bike licence.

if your license does include motorcycle riding, i think you can convert to a 2B license in SG.

unless you are smooth cat. a biker before. complete theory lesson. pass riding theory test in 1shot. pass 8 practical(ssdc) 1shot. wait for TP mth 1mth. maybe you can get in 3mth . not to mention if one fail practical during peak hours,waiting time can be 4-5days. so what if 4mth can get licsense ? he mention his duration is 4mth,after which should he depart. spend $$ on licsense for nothing ? lest you plan to come back again. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH to the NAIVE
