My pc just hit a problem which I can't even understand and solve. My pc have two internal IDE hard disk, one master ( OS disk)and the other slave (data disk).

Was using it for more than a year and was O.K but then when I turn it on again last week, it can't detect my hard disk (slave) but still can function with master hard disk.

Then later when I turn it on agian, it can't even detect the master hard disk.

Tried doing a re-installation of XP OS but had to abort beco it can't detect the hard disk. Checked the Bios and it list as there are 2 IDE hard disks. I didn't even alter anything ( cables or softwares) and the pc just crashed suddenly.

Any bros have any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks

Try this

a. remove casing and see if you hear clickity- clackity sound coming from on the disk. Remove power supply clip to your slave and do the same. it could be harddisk problem as it tries to boot up

b. get a working harddisk (if can find spare) and plug it as master. if you can boot up and see sthg like no os installed or similar msg then most probly yr PC hard disk gone (both of them)

c. take your slave and harddisk to another pc and configure as slave (one by one) If can see your slave in the OS then drive is OK then yr pc motherboard is suspect

d. If you sometimes can boot and sometimes can see your slave..it cud mean your drives are going to fail soon..quckly back important data to a thumbdrive
