Dats unless the fan is 'ON' without running the engine, there's no coolant circulation within the engine blk.

Nothing ever goes wrong. Whatever happen, happens for a reason.

hi bros,

This thread is extremely helpful and useful for all s4 riders.

i have been riding s4 for almost a year but still have some noob questions to ask. lol. so dun mind me asking arh....

1) how to check coolant level? and can we top up using distilled water? cuz i used to do that with my x8 previously, but i have no idea where the coolant for s4 is.

2) how to check your clutch cables and what to look out for?

have been riding normally everyday and had changed clutch plates once as my neutral gear was impossible to kick when the bike is stationary. but no idea what wear and tear to look out for in clutch cables.

3) how come when i am at 6th gear between 4 to 5 rpm, the bike accelerates slowly, even if i've tried turning the throttle all the way, only to pick up when it hits the needle points 5k plus.

mine ride is a stock vtec 1. no modifications.... (cuz no $$$) hahaha.

:cheeky: thankew all for reading!

Cheers!

A1) the reserve coolent reservoir is at the right panel cover.. take out the seat and screw out the only screw at the right panel cover.. then use a bit of force to pull the panel out..

the coolent level should be btw the max and min mark..

if i'm not wrong, your coolent reservoir maybe dirty and mouldy already.. you can go to any friendly bikeshop to quote for a coolent flush..

price ranges from $30 - $70 depending on the brand of coolent you use.

A2) for the clutch cables.. you will need to remember the tension it originally had when it's brand new.. once it's old, it'll lose tension.. the wires inside will worn out and you will need less pressure to pull back the clutch.. so if you feel your clutch is easier to pull by the day, most prob your clutch cable is going to give up on you.. Clutch cable with installation should not be more than $20..

A3) it should be normal as the 6th Gear is supposely a cruising gear, not for you to accelerate fast.. if you wanna feel the pull, try dropping a gear or two..

wow that was a really fast reply!

thanks biting_point!

nowadays my bike feels warmer than usual when traveling long distance, could be coolant empty. lol.

as for the 6th gear, i think last time no prob leh. but when i try now it's like so 'weak' liddat.

hmm but it's alrite lar, at least i know where my coolant is located right now. =D

eh one last question, when do we change throttle cable? or what wear and tear signs to look out for?

not only not enough coolent will cause your bike to overheat.. old coolent will too.. mine also there liao, time to change..

throttle cables are similar to clutch cables.. and do note, the two throttle cables are actually different..

for the throttle cables, it means if we twist the throttle grip more than used to be, it's time for replacement? seems like mine gg bonker soon.

for clutch cable, one more symptom is when you clutch in in 1st gear on a flat road, your bike is moving forward.. try adjusting the cable, still if same problem persisted, most likely your cable is due for change..

what bellypan you looking for?

define price for expensive belly pan..

and i dun think there's a best accessories shop.. most shop selling many different items/sccessories..

if you want all in one, you can try MotoWorld, but price would be in the expensive range..
