BTW,

1). Do you all cover your scooters, is it necessary to cover the scooters?

2). Can I get back boxes that match the color of the scooter, I want to get the blue model?

3). How do you all lock-up the scooter, i.e. disk brake locks?

Here's what i did for my scoot:

1) I feel its better to cover the scoot, especially if u park in the open air and under trees. When i look at my scoot cover, i realli feel I made the right choice.. Haha.

2) Yes u can. There are matching ones, but the quote they gave u is for Zeus box or Taiwan type. I got for my scoot a 43l Givi. Very big and quite heavy too. Oh ya, if u get a box, remember to get a 4A cover(bigger than 3L or whatever size). the 3 something size cover are too small, as the box lengthen the scoot.

3) After i got my bike, i add in the Cheetah alarm 1 week later. Gives me the peace of mind.. hehe. U can call Maverick and he will go down to your place to install. price reasonable

sorry for replying so late.

i changed my belt at 10000km. it still look very new and there's no sign of wear on it. personally i feel that it's a waste of money. i'll do the next change at 30000km and see how it goes.

my joyride is going to hit 20000km soon. so far all the maint i've done includes:

- regular 4t change $12 - $15

- spark plug change (twice) $3

- belt change at 10000km roughly $50 (can't remember)

- flush radiator at 15000km $??

- transmission oil change at 10000km $??

- spray exhaust pipe every few months

- regular cleaning of oil filter

that's all pretty standard. done all the servicing at ban hon (except spary exhaust pipe). sorry i can't remember some of the prices usually i send my wife to the bike shop to do servicing. she's able to get better rates :)

as for the transmission oil or gear oil that u mentioned. it's located at the rear wheel hub area. think all auto scoots have it. my previous scoot piaggio skipper125 and other current scoot typhoon125 have it too.

really glad that so many joyride owners in spore. was a bit worried when i first bought the bike that it have difficulty finding spares. now that there's so much interest think it not a problem anymore

Didn't know transmission oil can be changed at 10000km man.. Manual state is 5000km. Steady. Oh ya, what's spraying of exhaust pipe for ? prevent rust ?

Just something to add. Oil filter cleaning is very easy. Just need to air spray it as it's a small wire mesh tub.

I'm also glad that there is someone here with more exp in Joyride :) Next time can ask u for advice liao. Hehe :D But for the service centre, think they quite bad attitude. Dun like to go there. And mechanics dun know much on auto scoots too. That's what i feel..

i recommend u guys to use solar warrior (i find armorall lousy). spray it on the gray plastic areas(handle bars etc.) and your box every week to help maintain the shine and keep it looking new. the plastics will last longer.

Where u get that man ? Will like to get one for my scoot too. hehe  Can this help to remove stains too ? When i pump petrol last time (newbie), i accidentally overpump, and now the plastic have one ugly long white line near the fuel inlet. Was hoping to find something that can remove the stain

any place that sell car care products should have it. there's basically 2 brands, solar warrior and armour all. i prefer solar warrior and been using it for many years already. there's a pic of a samurai warrior on the bottle. it's really good for plastics (auto scoots have lots of plastic areas).

helps to slow down breaking down of plastic from the sun. works like sun tan lotion for your bike but it feels very oily and slippery. so be careful not to spray it on your tires, seats and handle bar grips (i still spary it on my seat though. after that my ass will slide around all over the seat.)

should be able to remove the petrol stains, but may need a few applications. i also sometimes spill petrol. i usually wipe it off immediatly and apply solar warrior once a week. now still don't have visible petrol stains near fuel cap area.

1. I cover my scooter as it is park in the open.

2. Mine is a black box (free)

3. Just the standard scooter handle bar lock - did not install additional security lock.

Thank youf or the offer, I will definitely take up the offer, anything to save money.

BTW, where is Ban Hon, I am coming from Jurong.

I hope the bike can come with IU, 2-Helmets, Back Box + bracket, and bike cover.

Hi PhAnToM76,

I have send you private msg with my contact. Since you are in Jurong - you can call me if you like to see the scooter.

Hi Sonic,

Thanks for sharing abt your servicing experience. When you sent your scooter to service, does the mech. there automatically change oil, change belt, check brakes at the servicing schedule or do you have to tell them to do necessary checks? Are you still using the Maxxis tyres?

Regarding the severice manual , I want to desire your understanding we just

thanks for the emails from taiwan yellowbie.

as for servicing your bike, i feel that's its better to know what is to be serviced. i usually tell the mechenics what i want done. they'll give u advice but its u who decide whether u want it done. better not leave everything to them. they sure service every damn thing they can think of. kena chop only.

i'm using michelin tyres for the rear. still maxxis in the front.

Guys fyi - I am going on the frazer hill ride with Isaac group.

hey kingfisher, how's your bell like sound? have u traced the problem? mine also seems to have same sound recently.

Hi Sonic,

Got the Sym Joyride back from BH on Sat afternoon. I have been using it since. As expected, the response to cause of problem was due to rollers being worn (same response for Yellobie's earlier problem). Sad to say that the sound is still there but intermittently and less often. SurprisinglyI was not charge a single cent (FOC) but will still try identify cause.

Thankz for the info kingfisher  How much mileage have you clocked ? Are your rollers damaged evenly, or izzit like mine ?

I have now clocked abt 3000km and I have spoken to the boss at BH and asked for details as to why rollers can cause the sound. He mentioned that the scooter's belting system needs to be greased as it was new and as such the cause of the sound (if that is the case, they should have done the job when it was send in for 1000km servicing). Asked him if it is normal to have sound - his reply - normal !! :nono:

I guess I have to agree with you - need to go somewhere else for servicing. I think all this got to do with poor Service - maybe Sonic can get better answer from BH - do send in and check before going on your trip.

alamak! just went th BH few hrs ago to change oil. never read your post. have suspected the problem caused by either gear oil or rollers.

i asked the mechnic there and he say don't know wat's the problem. need to do detail checkup. as i was rushing to fetch my wife i only manage to change engine and gear oil.

don't think got time to service before the balau trip. should not be a problem...i hope.

u only clocked 3000km got this problem liao??!!

mine only surfaced after about 21000km. now clocking in at 22200km

Yup! guess it is not question of how many km clocked. Other factors play part too but main problem is level of service rendered. A good service will have prevented this from happening - roller change and greasing job done.

My problem surfaced after I send it in for service at 1000km and i left for trip to Fraser at abt 1500km. Anyway now we all know what is needed to be check.

To answer Yellobie question, I do not know how worn the rollers are as I was not there while they were doing it - so have to take their word for it.

Thankz man. Maybe someday we can search for a better service centre ? Hehe
