Wrong.

His dad can still buy and own a Class 2 bike even without a Class 2 licence.

But he has to declare that, while he owns the bike, he cannot ride it and only the subrider can.

I did enquire about this before.

Its still allowed.

But no point nowadays as they will still do premium loading on the youngest / least experience rider.

newbie, would suggest you still get your own insurance and bite down the initial high premium.

On the long run, would be less complicated and be better off as you will get the NCD under your own name.

But, one question, hor.

For a guy who laughed at me for paying my insurance premium by installment, how come you wanna use ur dad's name as the insurer? Paying your own insurance under your name a bit too high? :)

eh but... i already hv 20% NCD.. is it possible to get 20% + 5% thru direct dealing?

anyway, my insurance after 20% is $1448 last i check, so i tot if can use dad's cheaper lor. im still for full payment of insurance at one go.

5% for?

The loyalty discount thing?

Neways. it comes down to the same thing.

For a guy who scoffs at others who prefer to take a no-loss option to pay their insurance, you wanna scrimp (read: save) as much as you can off your insurance by using your dad's name.

But in the end, both outcomes are the same.

You lose nothing by asking your dad as the primary insured (though not in the long run).

We lose nothing by paying 0% interest installments for only 6 months.

I could have settled at one go also. Mine with 20% is only $551 for a 600cc bike. But, unforseen circumstances resulted in me diverting those funds elsewhere. So I took up this option.

Lose nothing, gain more wisdom. :)

How about at this point somebody (fortunately not me) were to come here and post to you "If no $$$ to buy your own insurance, dun ride lah!"?

What would go through your mind?

sour ah u? type so long. u know i too lazy to read dis kinda post.

im fine if ppl say that. no worries. be it mine or dad's name, both amount i can pay one shot. juz wanna find better options if there are. i wanna save if can of course. and not burden myself with a super-long 6yrs bike loan n oso 6mths loan of insurance.

but if u like to take long loans and insurance oso loan, good la.

anyway dat Everbright shop has alot of shoppers. i've oredi enquired and their way of making business is "superb".

whats his secret? haha

anyway, yup i still remember those times when the insurance follows the owner. my classmate rode a VTR SP-1 but his insurance premium was only $124 for TPFT. that was years back. now no more dude. i think they discovered the loop hole.

or they suddenly realised the hike in old man buying big cows and having their sons as sub riders.

rien d'autre que le max.
