sigh... Ridden my little black beauty a wee bit too hard.

Front fork leaking oil. Oil seals were starting to leak whenever the engine gets too hot. The leaks stopped once the engine cooled down though. I could see wisps of smoke rising from underneath the fairing at night. There's also a distinct "burnt rubber" smell. Back to the bike shop for further checks and repairs.

Initial prognosis: Hardened oil seals and gaskets seemed to be the cause of the leaks. The previous owner had not ridden it much in the last year. Hopefully, there's no more problem after this round of servicing.

Since I got the day off tomorrow, I am planning to spend the day at the shop epoxying all the minor cracks on my fairing. (They are going to dismantle the fairing anyway.)

Cheers,

Goo

Today I over halt front break’s master cylinder of my blue bike.

To buy the set of spare parts(pic1-4), $90+, but I only need the rubber seal(pic5) and spring (no stock), so I cut the old spring(pic6) to replace the missing 1, looks it working(pic7).

Only 7 pieces of small parts, $90+! But also give me a container and a very big piece of paper, very detailed describe how to replace these parts, so easy things only use eyes to see the parts can understand liao! Made in Spain, brembo parts really not cheap. If next time spoil again, sure I change whole set to other brand.

Maybe this is the part of reason that NT650 from v2 change the break system, not use brembo anymore.

Does this involve changing the Rotor Disc too?

Nice to know this cos my mech is doing the same thing for my bike. At least, I would know how much to pay for the parts.

Yo bro,

I had no personal carpark to do my bike. I hope I can fix some small problem. No electrical point and shady place for me. Cos my carprk is open one. If I do my bike under my block, people around my HDB and complain that I dirty the place.

Sometimes forget to take some tools, must travel up to 13th floor and come down again. And also no one taking care of my bike downthere if I dismantle it.

Wash bike also problem, no water point, must travel up and down taking buckets of water.

To maintain my bike, I always cover it overnite incase of rainning...

Tht's why I always visit your clinic to do my bike, paiseh... hahaha...

You are most welcome!

I had lots of fun touching your bike.

I love to supervised and lend a set of helping hand on challenging jobs that required at least 2 sets of hands. I can't wait to do the most challenging work on your bike.

To change the timing chain is easy. To get the timing right is by far, the most challenging.

i m looking forward after CNY. Ok?

Sure or not, we can do it mei?

Chicken feet la.

As you said, we can soon open a bike shop liao.

Most fun servicing time to come! Haha.:thumb:

im sorry, firedragon, im not meant only u, its for all of our deauville members, for example, change engine camshaft cover gasket, all spare parts only cost $20, but at most 5 hours to do it, how much bike shop will charge? if asking $200, also need to pay it, as we are a group of member, if anyone can do it, and happy to do it, why we bother out of our group pp to do it? save $ is a point, making fun is another point.

I sold my previous ride to a shop who is also exporting it overseas. Was a bit concerned when I was called. The whole thing sounds a bit dodgy at first. But its cash on transfer of ownership at LTA. So I don't think you have to worry about being cheated.

Just try to get a decent price for your bikes!

Ah nice... I was both pleasantly surprised and slightly dismayed to find that Deauville comes with a pair of Brembo Calipers too. I would hate to fork out another $700-800 for 2 sets of Brembo Calipers in event of theft. Lost my front calipers for my previous S4 and had a major headache and wallet burnt trying to replace them.

my blue deauville right side caliper was lost @ JB 3 years b4, then i only use rear break ride it back, asked many bike shop, all say same words, must pay $250-$300 for same brand right side caliper. then i went to ubi, a shop boss told me no need pay such high $, other brand also can. i forgot price, $60 or $80 for a 2nd hand with hamer knocked scar caliper. 2 month b4 i serviced front break, i found the right side silver colour nissim caliper is better working condition than left side original brembo caliper. to service brembo break system, the headache thing is very hard to find new spare part, i want to change caliper's piston ring, but anywhere no stock, so measured size, then use similar ring replaced it, but still feel not smooth as right side.

My experience with Brembo brake calipers was even worse. The thief made off with both front brake calipers on my S4 Ver S. Apparently, it was a syndicate effort as the Brembo brake stocks went kosong islandwide.

Mech told me its not possible to just switch over to nissin then. Something about having to change the rotor disc and the forks.

Took me and my mech 2 weeks to track down 1 brand-new unit (Forgot whether it was the right side or left. Some kupkia racer bought 1 side and the other side was for sale) . Made do with 1 front brake caliper for 6 months before I was able to get my hands on the other one. Had to pay a premium for that unit as the shop was unwilling to sell 1/2 a set.

Reverse-bolted my Brembo brakes from then on. Also installed a surveillance cam on my favourite parking lots just in case.

The mention of "Brembo" always caused me to cringe. Can see "$$$" flying off...
