Dear Deauville bros,

First of all, greetings to all bros riding this beauty. I've been riding this machine for 3 months odd. And recent 1 month, I've encountered the following symptom.

Sometimes cannot start, in the morning or even when bike is started for 2nd/3rd time.

Very often, I will off the light on the right handle bar, then start, it works.

Still on a few occasions, even I off the lights, it cannot start. No crank sound from the starter too. I have to wait for a lucky moment to come before it can be started again. Lucky its only a couple of times that this happened.

Thus, I would like to consult bros here, if any had encountered this before?

Or happen to know what is faulty with my machine?

I will want to replace the part 1st before it totally dies off.

I thank you in advance for your precious advise.

I have similar problem with my Deauville who just passed its 9th birthday. Some of the solutions are at no cost.

I always choke my bike before I start the engine, otherwise it may stall when you engage 1st gear. I ride off immediately without waiting for the engine to warm up, but usually ride gently for 3-4 minutes before closing the choke and this will prevent the engine from dying at the traffic light in the morning.

If the engine dies at the traffic light and you have to wait a few minutes before your can start again, it could be a fuel pump problem. Just make sure that the fuel level does not go to the reserve level. Pump up at about 10-11 liters level. Watch your mileage after your next refill and record the amount of petrol pumped in. Calculate your consumption by dividing your total distance traveled by the amount of petrol pumped to get your fuel consumption. Pump petrol when the consumption is about 10-11 liters and it will save you the cost of a new fuel pump.

It is quite unusual for you to try to start and there is no crank sound. This happened to my friend's Steed and it turned out to be a faulty start/stop switch. Clean the contact or get it replaced. Another problem might be a sticky side stand switch. Try pulling in your clutch before trying to start your engine or spraying WD40 on the side stand switch.

You should also check your battery and rectifier. If your rectifier fails, your battery will not charge and will eventually run out. Rectifier is on the right side under the panel below the seat. If it is working, it should feel warm after riding. Otherwise if it is cold it means it is faulty.

Go to Yi Yang Motors if you need a reliable mechanic who knows Deauvilles. Say the Green Deauville recommended you.

Many sincere thanks and appreciation to bro addict and rayyim.

I went to my regular mechanic and he diagnosed it to be "going-to-be-faulty" rectifier.

But I feel the price is abit steep, he said $400+ for a brand new rectifier.

Is that the normal price for rectifier?

I will find time to go Yi Yang to get 2nd opinion too.

Thank you once again.

Brand new rectifier is available on Ebay at about GBP 62 including postage.

Swaping out the old and putting a new one should be a simple job of undoing a 2 bolts to replace a with the new one. Can DIY and save almost $250.

Here's the link:

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/sis.html?_nkw=Honda+NT650+NT+650+Deauville+05+Regulator+Rectifier

Ah Siong at Yi Yang Motors might be able to recommend a compatible rectifier from another model at a lower price than Deauville original parts price.

Many sincere thanks and appreciation to bro addict and rayyim.

Rectifier new @ chaung Aik..... ard 60 or 65, (forgot :D), .. same as super 4 Rectifier, Can DIY also.. easy

Nt rectifier, if Magnetic Coil, will b cost ard 400.. :D like Bomb ha ha

Deauville Rectifier is definitely less than $100 cos its using the same rectifier as Super 4. How I know cos I change before and have a spare one for touring. For the coil it will cost S$200+++++ close to 3 if you buy from Ever success but from Boon Siew will be over $300... I know cos ever success no stock and I can't wait so went to BS.

If your bike sometime start and sometime don't, it might be one of the switches, can be the clutch handle switch, side stand switch, neutral switch or even the starter button itself. Doesn't really sounds like a rectifier or coil problem... again how I know cos I am still having this problem... but not bother about it cos gonna go in to mechanic for major facelift plus do here do there soon :) I am gonna to have the ugliest Deauville in Singapore or maybe the world!! haha...

You can go to Yi Yang Motors and check with Ah Siong. Just spoke to his on last week regarding ordering spare parts and he knows where to get Deavuille parts. He is closing his shop at the end of the month as his shop lease has not been renewed. He will than take a few months break before opening again when he finds a new place.

Alternatively, you can check ebay. If you are lucky, you can get the new or 2nd hand parts that you need at a much lower price. Check frequently and the items changes every day or week.

You can also check http://www.hondaoriginalparts.com/honda_motorcycle_parts_block_selection_M30.php?mod_01=3631 for the part number. Prices here are not cheap. You can google the part number to see if there are cheaper websites else where.

Here are the parts that you need:

64260MBL610 - L. COWL PROTECTOR

PFKL548132 - SPRING, LOCK KEY SET

PFKL734751 - SEAL, R. POCKET COWL

PFKL736505 - LID, R. POCKET

Here's another good website for the parts list: http://grapevine.com.au/~kathynron/files/2005_NT650V_Parts_List.pdf

If it takes 6 months for Boon Siew to order, it might be better to get from Yi Yang or over the internet.

Hi, hafizhappy.

Heard from Ah Siong that you paid him a visit. He says that his supplier will be getting delivery of your spare parts soon.

Bro rayyim..Thanks for the very detailed info bro..will try and source out..very ugly lah without the tings..hahah

Dear Deauville Bros, I did troubleshooting myself, the below is what I found.

Rectifier is hot after riding, thus it might not be faulty rectifier.

Magnetic coil? How to check and where is it located?

Situation: My lights will be fully turned on whenever I press the start switch. Thus the problem, cannot start. Then I will have to switch the light to the middle, i.e. the small light on only. Then able to start.
