Good morning guys,

I'm currently riding a GSR400 and have encountered a problem which i need some advice from the experienced gsr riders here.

My engine's idling has been dropping to about 6-700rpm recently. I have tried adjusting the idling back to about 1.2k but after riding for 2-3weeks, it just drops back to 7-800 rpm again.

I have also tried whacking the bike (travelling at 8-9k rpm from CTE Outram to PIE Jalan Eunos, Under HDB Carpark) hoping to clear the carbon build up, but with little effect.

Is there anything wrong I'm doing here? My normal riding style is as follows :

1st and 2nd Gear :

3rd - 5th Gear :

6th Gear : 6-7k rpm

Should i bring my bike to a bike shop? Clear more carbon? Or should i just simply adjust the idling back up and hope that it doesn't drop again?

Thanks alot in advance

Cheers :)

Join us for the trip today and you will know why the idling drops. Suggestion is that u wait till the bike is fully heated up. like at riding temp. 80 degrees? Than see how much is the diff from 1.2k. THan adjust it but put some form of marking to mark the location of the knob. Ride a few days and if it drops again, See if the marker has moved. IF it had, it could mean that the knob is loose and is self adjusting itself.

Kulai Nasi Lemak trip

Date : Friday 24th July

Time : 8pm meet at Jurong Birdpark... 8.30pm sharp move out.

8. Chin...Kampfer

9. WaRRioR83 1 more Friend

10. Lexanez + GF

11. Cyrix's friend (pending)

.

.

Just a simple checklist for what you need to bring along:

1. Passport with whitecard (i'll bring spare whitecards)

2. Malaysia 1.60rm for toll (going in)... coming back also 1.60rm if you want to come back by 2nd link

3. Cardcard for Singapore checkpoint - with at least balance of $1.40 ... just to be sure... last time I think was $0.70 per bike.

4. Malaysia RM - 50~100rm for petrol and food is sufficient. More if you are bringing ur gf or wife.

5. A happy heart. :D

Safety precaution:

1. Check your bike is in good condition... it'll be a hassle to breakdown in JB.

2. Safety apparels if possible - Gloves, fullface, jackets, pants, boots, etc.

I'll bring along tyre repair kit in case of any flat tyres.

Take note: Speed travelling average is 100km/h for our smaller cc friends. It is just a rough estimated... or rather an indication that we will be travelling slower than usual. I seek ur cooperation to be patience and enjoy the joy of travelling as a pack in a controlled speed.

Further briefing will be conducted at GP before we set off.

Our CSM kenshingsr will inspect ur bike and conduct a water parade before we move out. Hehehe...

To all GSR bros going for the Kulai Trip, have a safe journey..:thumb: send my regards to the ppl there.. And also please return in 1 piece..

Anways water parade is a must.. don't want any of u fainted along the way..:faint:

i remove mine for the cost of $500 +/- but that together with the stock end-cam, thought of selling it also as buying wrs endcam soon.

Do note, removing the catalyzer will increase the CO emission. Inspection or if caught by LTA will fail. Do it at your own risk.

Even motoworld advice to use the original midpipe with whatever street legal end cans first, and after pass inspection, you can change to whatever you wan. BUT every year need to put back original for inspection.

If not wrong the 1st 3yr rule for new bike does not apply, if you change to street legal exhausts. Its compulsary to go inspection every year. Do correct me if wrong.

Read up at http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/modifications_and_vehoffences/modification_guide/modification_allowed_lta.html#MainPar_0006

"The exhaust system, which consists of the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and muffler, is used as part of a vehicle's exhaust emission control system to ensure that the exhaust emission meets our environmental requirements. Any modification to the exhaust system would therefore require LTA's approval. The following should be submitted to LTA for evaluation:

a) Certification from the product manufacturer stating that the proposed aftermarket exhaust system is suitable for the make and model of the vehicle.

b) Certifications or test reports from LTA/NEA recognised test laboratories to show that the aftermarket exhaust system when fitted to the vehicle on a per make and model basis complied with prevailing exhaust emission standards.

Note: Removing catalytic converters and mufflers are not allowed as it will adversely affect the exhaust emission characteristics of the vehicle.

Vehicle owners found modifying or tampering with the exhaust system may face a Court fine of up to $1,000 or 3 months' imprisonment upon conviction in Court."

Yes, underneath the headlight behind the license plate, it really depends on what horn you intend to install, but the rule is you should install it facing downwards if yours is similar to a stebel magnum or hella twintones, if yours is the round trumpet looking one, then it's quite water resistant.

oh ok i will go try it out thanks for ur hlp!!

dude, no offense, you know i "LOVE" you...BUT sometime, just give it a chill dude...we dont have to "contribute" to anything and everything..even though the key reasoning is concern and just being helpful...

how the heck to adjust the air?...clean air filter?...punch more hole?...change to aftermarket?....change ambient temperature?...ride only when the air humidity is right?...install some A-F ratio shitz and have no idea wad it does?...

my concern is that as "more experienced" riders, some of us know what we are talkign about..NOT ME...but to just give suggestions...sometimes only makes the guy with the problem feel more worried than necessary...and worse he anyhow change this and that make problem from small to big...if you gona offer any solution...at least make an effort to find out what the root problem is first?...

totally agree wit u.
