Anyways, Now a days Engines are equip with Hydraulic Valves, controled by the ECU which lead to programming the ECU to adjust the valve according to it's original settings, BUT....there a BUTT.... Based on experience it's still need to be adjust manually to it's specify measurements, That why we need a Manual for this Occasion to insure the cleara......Oh **** it's 2114hrs damn im gonna be late, gotta meet the GSR's at jurong Bird park by 2200hrs Old Town Coffee baby....yeah...

Uhhh.... To Be Continued....Sori Better post this first Before it's gone...

Bro, most bike engines are still spring-based valves.

Hydraulic valves are not so common. There are. But GSR is certainly not in the list.

We're still based on the old shim bucket and spring valves system.

I do know the YZR-M1 that Rossi rides uses that.

Very big-bore bikes (GoldWing, RoyalStar, etc) will prolly use hydraulic valves due to the pressure involve (Imagine each cylinder of a RoyalStar has more cc than our GSR. Now imagine the pressure when the piston pushes upwards into the closed valves for the compression cycle).

The best form of valve timing control is those timing system that is gear-driven instead of using a timing chain and springs.

I remembered one of the Ducati bike model has this. The cam that opens and closes the valves is driven by a set of gear cogs.

Literally maintenance-free as long as you keep good EO in there.

Trust me, its not that easy.

This coming from someone who spent 2 hours taking off and installing aftermarket end cans on the GSR DIY.

To take the end cans off, you need to take off the rubber supports and the interlocking nut connecting the 2 brackets in the centre.

To access that, you need to take off the rear handle and tail lights assembly.

To access that, you need to take off the tail board.

To access that, you need to take off the seat.

Which needs a key.

Oh, forgot to mention that, even after all that, you still need to take off the mid-pipe as well coz there is tightening collar around the end cans. Cannot remove the end cans until the collar is removed.

That requires mid-pipe removal.

That requires header to be removed.

That requires radiator to be lowered.

That requires the side fairings to be removed.

Which requires a key as you need to remove the tank.

Plus, those who install sideracks like me, make the situation even more stickier.

So, you decide for yourself...

Hmmm....maybe my observation was wrong cos visually is like removing the nuts ard the end cans, we can pull it out with ease.....Ok..that make me feel safer..Tks!

It will be your battery or rectifier ,btw revving while during cold start can do harm to your bike, plus what i also encounter during cold starts is that my bike will feel a bit sluggish, but still the bike will idle it'self up to 1.1k~1.2k.free maintenace battery can last you 2 years is good enufff liao.go to ur mech to check the battery.

Battery has nothing to do with the bike once your started your bike.

Its sole purpose is to start the bike. After that it just sits there collecting back the electrical juice it expended starting your bike using the built-in trickle charger (unless you are like Razi and his collection of electronic gadgets all linked to the battery).

A properly used battery has a theoretical lifespan of about 5 years.

In reality its closer to about 3+ years.

I managed to use mine for 3.5 years before I finally changed and I had no issues every morning.

Recently, the weather has been rather cold. If you look around, you notice that even if there were no rain for the night till morning, its cold enough condensation will form of most surfaces.

Now imagine, in the spark plug cap, such condensation forming.

You have problems with the electrical conductivity in the plug cap.

I had this problem years back with my TLR.

Cold mornings, my idling will slowly die down. Several times even one of the pistons will die out and I have a TL500 instead of a TL1000.

I read up on the solution from riders in US when they face similar issues in their winter season

Try this solution I used when I had similar problems with cold starts on extremely cold / wet weather we are facing right now:

Go to a good hardware store (those big ones along Kelantan Lane or Bendemeer area) and ask for dielectric grease.

Not any type of grease. Not electrical connector / contact cleaner. Not WD40. Dielectric grease.

Make sure that product has specs for good waterproofing, good electrical conductivity while having good heat insulation / resistance.

Take off your spark plug caps and apply a reasonable coat of the grease on the spark plug area where it goes connects to the cap (Don't be an arse to put it around the spark gap portion).

Give it a go.

This was what I used before:

Costs like $4.95 at HomeFix DIY. But they don't carry it anymore I think.

Check with U all regarding my GSR, after a cold start, sometimes the rpm will go down to 5-600 only and eventually stall, I got to hold the throttle a bit to rev it to 3-4k after start up for 10 over secs then the bike will idle swee swee at 1.2k rpm . Could it be the raining nights? This happen for about 5-6 times already and the new set of plugs had just gone through for less then a 1000km.

Sometimes during cold start , straight away it will idle at 1.2k rpm already.

Whats the possible cause of it? Old battery will cause this symptom? 2.5 yrs not yet change

For This Kind of Cases U need to adjust the Cold start idler, Chances are when u said 5-600Rpm is too Low to start off with...Mine adjusted, start it will Jump to 1.2 - 1.3 rpm for 5 secs then it will drop to 1.1 rpm

& idle it to min of 3mins or so after temp is good enough say around 55 -57c Say alil' bit of Prayers before riddin then off u go...:p

Like many of us said. He's fickle minded. Decide to sell just sell. Decide to keep then keep. If he sold his bike for 9k then he can instantly take over the ST11

Dear all GSR owners & fans,

currently i looking at gsr600 and fz6n

below are the comparision on both bikes.

anyone have the FC between this 2 bikes?

both are gd bikes....

Outlook...

GSR Gd riding posture (tink the FZ6 lose out on tis)

GSR has an inbuilt Gear indicator (FZ6 dun have)

GSR better out look (both are nice but GSR outshine by a bit more)

Performance wise (stock vs stock)

Pick up GSR is very gd!!!

top speed wise FZ6 is better!!!

but can be done by changing spockets lol

both are gd engine...

FZ6 is a R606 detune

GSR is a prototype of B king....

Resales value....

FZ6 win tis hands down....

regardless owner to owner or to shop....

Yamaha fetch better value always....

ps: personal pt of view .... pls dun quote mi....

Spare parts support....

FZ6 win

Cheaper spares always than suzuki...

& Suzuki agent Guan hoe kinda struck up....

Example: 1 of my ex colleague rode a gsr, he had a fell & had to replace the left pillion footrest bracket ....

Replacement cost $280 to $300+++

PERSONAL POINT OF VIEW!!!!!

Get the FZ6N ...

more accessories...

more value for $$$
