Guys pls advice on the basic maintenace needed for this baby.

When i took the bike from the bike shop. They say they already change the EO. So my next change is at 3,000 km? cos i dun think they use fully syn.

EO and Oil Filter need to change together? what abt air filter ? any more basic maintenace needed for this baby?

Sry for asking noob question.

Pls advice. Many thanks

Hi!

Firstly congrats on ur new ride! Maintenance wise has been discussed a few times on this thread. Anyway, I will just give my opinion.

I usually do my eo n oil filter change @ 5000km. Usually we use fully syn oil for our babies. Spark plugs can last maybe 10k at least? Coolant flushing I did it after 2 yrs.

Never do engine flush before so I have no idea.. Maybe seniors here can advise. Other than that, wear n tear stuff like tyres, brake pads.

I m north rider too! Hope to see more folks riding this bike otr!

Cheers!

Current ride - Gilera ST200 (April 2011-present)

Previous rides - Suzuki GSR 400 (31 March 2008 - 2011)

Assumption is mother of all all ****-ups! :cheers :-P

what googly said is just about there. coolant, spark plug, and eo. for me, regardless of which bike i rode, every time i change my eo i change my oil filter. it's not tt expensive to change. it's cheap. just change it. better clean oil to ur cylinders right?

as for air filter, open up ur tank and check what type of filter the bike has. stock, bmc , k&n or others. usually k&n or BMC can wash. u don't have to keep buying new ones. and when i say wash, they have their own liquid for it. not use ur own tap water. :faint:

as for the shop saying they change ur eo already, i wouldn't really "buy" tt stuff. use a syringe and suck some eo if u can n c it's colour. best way to check. if u want la. i jus being crazy here. if u just took the bike out, do check on ur coolant level, chain n sprocks, brake pad, and brake disc. other than tt u r good to go!:thumb: if urs is a FBB plate, than do monitor ur batt too. don't want to die without any hints. like mine. hahahahah! lucky got razi to accompany me. :cheeky:

how do u guys maintain yr chain? what i read from the net, never use WD-40 to remove the grease cos it might damage the "O"-ring in the chain or something. What abt lubricant ? anyone using liquid moly chain lubricant? is it gd?

07 no longer in production. So I guess they are clearing stock.

Install Scottoiler V-system. Lubricating/ Cleaning the chains will be a thing of the past. Cost bout $200 i think. My ride was 2nd hand and it came installed with it so not sure of pricing. Works wonders. Never will i have the hassle of cleaning my chain again. :thumb:

Alternatively, can check out the local based 'Ezzyoiler'. got CMO thread on it.

Cost $40.

Same function as Scottoiler, but got a valve to open/close so the oil wont drip when u park ur bike and the engine is not running.

Woah, i realise many GSReans either stay at north or east side. Any GSReans in the South? Specifically Bukit Merah? I think my Baby feel very lonely at the carpark always being flanked with Phantoms and Vespas.

Btw, I wanna join Ayer Hitam Trip... But i working.... :dozed:

Maybe next time then can join u all.

Or if u all going out via Woodlands Checkpoint then maybe got chance to see u guys. Hehe.

the last time i went to looi's there are abt 3 bikes. Not sure 400/600 as i never ask. that is about 2 or 3 weeks ago so not sure about now.

any chain lub is good chain lub. it's just a matter of how regular we lub the chain. Me, being lazy, fixed scottoiler so that i no need to worry abt lubing it.. hehe. i do have to clean the rims a bit more often though, due to oil flinging off from moving chain.
