Transport Minister Raymond Lim announced on Monday that a second generation In-vehicle Unit (IU) will be introduced from August, starting with motorcycles, before being rolled out in early 2009 for cars and other vehicles.

 

The new IU will allow motorists to use not just the current NETS CashCards but also Contactless E-Purse Application Standard (CEPAS) smart cards when they are released.

 

Mr Lim said that with the new IU, motorists will have more choices in the payment of ERP charges.

 

As for public transport users, they should also find it easier to make payments with a new e-payment system to be launched later this year.

 

Mr Lim said at the opening of the 9th Intelligent Transport System Asia-Pacific Forum and Exhibition that the Land Transport Authority has developed a new ticketing system that complies with CEPAS.

 

The Symphony for e-Payment (SeP) will offer commuters more choices as multiple card issuers can come on board to issue cards for the payment of public transport fares.

 

And because SeP is also compatible with second generation IUs, users may only use one common card for e-payments made for transport.

 

It was also announced that to help motorists better plan their trips, Singapore will be expanding the coverage of the EMAS camera system to cover major arterial roads. The first phase is to be in place by 2010.

 

In the meantime, the LTA is working with local company Quantum Inventions in the development of a dynamic route navigation system.

 

Drawing real-time information from LTA's traffic monitoring centre, the system will plot the best driving route, taking into account accidents, road works and traffic slowdowns.

 

It is believed that the system, now available over the web and mobile phone devices, could also be integrated into other in-vehicle systems such as GPS and map navigators at a later stage.

I wanted to get the advice from other riders on their suspension level. I have put my rear on 5 and front is still the stock at 5.

Hey Hey. Its the quality that counts not the wordings. Mine may be a 400 but it has the power of a 125 so put what also like that.

 

Slowest rider with the bigger cc radiator. Cools the radiator better though.

Be sure to check ur tire valve caps and ur tire pressure when u moving off. My tire valves has been stolen by some cheapo and brainless people. Air been let out also. Hope his tire hit nail and puncture when he park his bike.

Wah lau ... you mean the cap to your tyre's valve has been removed? Your tyres pressure has been reduced becos that idiot has let off some air? ... clearly must be someone out to sabotage you lah ... I dun think he's intention is to steal your cap.... if he just want to steal your cap... he wun be bothered to let off the air from your tyres ...

damn it. such LOUSY people still exist ah??...its used to be quite common but i thought we have progressed on...curse all these green-eyed jealous people sia...

 

at one time, my car and some other neighbors cars keep getting this cigarette butts/dust mixed with soap water thrown from flats...we suspect some jealous neighbors who cant stand the fact people can afford cars nowadays...AND that they are lazy and dowan to work harder to earn a better living so just make other people's lives miserable by doing such cowardly acts...

 

last week, my car was also scratched by some irresponsible lorry driver who probably drove over his high backside over my bonnet...imagine the horror when i was about to drive my car from my carpark the next day...farks to these people...

 

bottomline, do just check your rides before you go off..not to incur more jealousy..but for our own safety sake...i kinda do it as 2nd nature nowadays...

 

ps: i feel for you bro...these idiots don realise that they can cause accidents and injuries by doing such acts..if i catch them..i sure hand over to mata sia...
