nah i dont think most paint shop will remove the old paint work for u, the most they will usually do is to light sand the surface down to flat and spray paint it over..unless other wise indicated to the painter and be physically there to see it. if u wanna a complete remover of the paint and patty base it's gonna be a long and costly job to do.

Whazzup --> I was readin on this thread and someone said have seen ur bike?

If u dun mind, can u post ur pics here? I would like to take a look and may want to consider to do my paint job at the place you been to if its good...

Thanks..:thumb:

May i noe where is the exact address? And do you have any pics for me to view?

I think whazzup posted some pics of his scoot a couple of pages back... looks hot...

The fact that there is absolutely ZERO orange peel texture in the finished work is proof of the quality... this paint is miles better than stock...

I'll post a pic of my fender if I can find one...

arhhh i bought new sparkplugs and changed it, but still cannot start up... I put the plug near metal part of engine and kick start, no sparks. I guess the coil is spoilt again~~

I changed the cheap indian coil(95 dollar) at tongaik this year jan, it lasts exactly 1 year :(

wondering how often you guys have to change coil?

and do we need to do anything to take care of coil? Usually I only have to kick once to start engine....

Need to get tongaik come and tow my bike again, 4th time in abt 14mth! I guess this time I'll get the good quality coil(ducati?), anyone knows the price? I remember its close to 200.

sad..

The engine coil can last a few years. Spray generous amounts of WD40 on it (via the flywheel) periodically. Most importantly, don't let water get to the coil.

But maybe it's not the coil that's giving problems. Ask the mechanic.

cos u are already on 24/24

hahahahahaha! i din know px200 runs on 24/24. cos i ride px150 so i assumed it's also 20/20. suddenly i feel so noob.

thanks for the info~

water might be the cause, raining quite heavily these days and the sheltered parking lot i parked in, if the rain is heavy my bike still gets wet.

Got it towed this morning. wait for uncle to check the bike.

Hi All,

Can anybody tell me how to get my PX150 to go above 90km/h without much vibration? Thinking of investing more into this reliable machine as long as it can go around 100km/h.

Posted

Invest in new engine mounts, and a new rear shock mount (get shop to inspect and see how worn they are...)

Then get rid of your 3leg fork and put a proper px one in with a PX milenium front shock (made by Sebac... really good quality and very smooth... easily the best stock front shock ever made for a Vespa)....

Then put some bar-end weights from a GT200 on your handlebars (I can show you how)...

The get some decent tyres (probably the biggest influence to vibration) Either Bridgestone battalax, or any of the racy looking ones from Michelin, Continental or Heidenau etc... They make a big difference...

I'd really change that fork of yours if you want to go 100kmh... you'll need a fork with brakes that will actually stop the scoot without you diving like the titanic...

hey sharp, i just got my exhaust operated on and its super free flowing now... is there a need to retune my carb and jet settings?

im also interested in increasing torque and low end grunt. will increasing my carb size work?

im running a 20/20 on a stock 2 port engine and i can already hit 110kmph but i dont care about top speed. just want more torque.

Azahoneystar, the bar end weights help to reduce vibration in the handlebars. Basically you get a very long bolt and some nuts, and put the bolt through the bar end and down through the throttle/gear tube, and then put washers and nuts on the other end and tighten...

Narcx, you might want to put a 1 size bigger main jet on to be safe... a more freeflowing exhaust is going to make the engine run hotter (more lean), so giving it more fuel (richening) by increasing the main jet size helps cool it down.

Putting a bigger carb on will not give you more torque... A 20/20 is as good as you're going to get... I think the only way to get more torque than you currently have is to either spend lots of money doing engine work with a new cylinder etc... or buy a Sito + exhaust overseas and have it shipped to Singapore.

Thanks Sharpey, I will check with shops on that. So you think changing to 24/24 does not help much at all.

thanks. i'll try a bigger main jet. not sure what im running on yet. im still testing the new pipe. it revs very easily now but a lot of trashing at the top.

is it possible to change the 2 port casing into a 3 port (sprint v) type? like a swap perhaps? and will adding a kit to a 2 port motor be of much use? cuz most of these kits are for 3 port motors right?

will a Sito + see much improvement over a tong pipe? i read the mounting bracket and exhaust neck is different and will need modification to fix to a vbc motor.. which means more $$$

hey everyone! anybody knows where i could get a copy of the Haynes manual for vespa? tried borders @ parkway but no success. was wondering if there are any at kino or borders wheelock?

jus got an '80 p150x, intending to do a complete DIY restoration ;) where are the places that sell vespa spares? thanks in advance guys!

Well, you can add another port in theory... In practise, you're not going to find anyone experienced enough at doing this to do it for you in Singapore... Alloy Welding is a bit tricky...

You're better off selling your sprint and buying a Sprint V... Again, the Sprint V doesn't command a higher market price than a 2port sprint... So just swap...

OR, get a new PX150EFL (late model gearbox) engine and put it in... Not the cheap option... but performance wise its the way to go... You'll need to go through LTA red tape if you want this option... but it is possible and has been done before. Mr. Wee at Tong Aik will be able to advise...

I can't tell you if a Sito+ is going to be better than a Tong pipe... I haven't tried one... All folks overseas who use them say that they're great for low end grunt... but that they don't last as long as stock pipes do (thinner metal)...

If I'm not wrong you can get a sito plus made to fit a Sprint (eg there's a diff model of Sito+ available for it... If not, its just a question of grinding off part of the bracket on the exhaust... no big deal.... However, what you will find with a Stio+ on a Sprint is that it sits lower, meaning you might more easily ground it on hard turns... Still, this hasn't been a deterrent for loads of folks in other countires.... If you're Mandarin is any good, I know that the Vespa Shop in Taiwan (google vespa club Taiwan "VCOT") sells them... Shipping would obviously be cheaper from there than it would be from Europe... Mind you, with the weak US Dollar at the moment, buying from the States may well be worth it....

Hey Mothercat.... you wont have any joy buying a Haynes in SG for a Vespa... Your best bet is either Amazon.com, or one of the online scooter shops...

Where are you planning to do this restoration?

Its a lot more work than you'd ever imagine... (I know, I spent 6 months using one of the 3 bedrooms in my house as a paint shop... that didn't make me very popular with the wife :) )
