Hi Shapey, got malossi kit on my bike today with 'tong' pipe. However was advice to leave the carb on 20/20(mech said is good enough/better FC).

What jet setting would you advice.

Posted

join stellaspeed and then join stellastats... you'll find plenty of jetting stats there... To be honest, I only know 200's....

Basic advice is to start rich and then jet down... so maybe a 116 main, and then progressively less until you get no bogging at high revs (engine revs out cleanly)...

Thanks to all.....

narcx.. yeah, the Americans over on stellaspeed like the DR... its apparantly a cheaper option than the pinasco... Try searching stellaspeed for a review. I don't think they're imported here... You'll need to import yourself...

fair enough fyghter.... A sprint style mudguard can be made to fit the px fork though.... a cheaper option... You really don't want 3leg forks unless you reeallly like the looks and this matters more to you than reliability...

Hi sharpey, went back to do some fine tuning as bike is a bit unsmooth for 1st gear pick up,however could feel the big different in power for 4th gear when on speed.

Told to put about 4 to 5% of 2T for run in(for a week/max speed 70km/h),is that a good advice.

Posted

xy survey... you use premix or autolube?

If premix, maybe 4%max....

If autolube just leave alone...

The main thing about having a new piston is to "heat cylce"

Try to go for short trips, letting the engine warm up slowly and then cool down.

Try not to ride with a pillion until run in...

Try not to ride fast uphill eg try to hold speed in 4th.... until run in...

Basically try not to "load" the engine...

went to eugene saddlery today and asked for a quote for a normal single colour re-warp plus a layer of cushion. was told "60 plus dollars". i guess i might as well get a new seat altogether. anyone tried elsewhere?

After I got the steel plates in my clutch assembly changed (they were worn out) then the problem came. Maybe it's the new plates. Or it could be the gear selector box. Or gear cables. Hmmm... o_O

hmm lol guys, ask you all, how do you ride a vespa? is it like a go kart? turn throttle then it will go? or is it like auto transmission car? Even dont turn it, will roll by itself?

2b failures...

Fell once on a bike,

Dropped bike twice, in 1.01 and SP.

Go kart? Hahaha~ :faint:

The modern Vespas (LX, GT, etc.) are the twist and go type. Auto.

But if you don't turn the throttle, it won't move unlike auto transmission cars.

The older ones (Sprint, PX, etc.), manual transmission.

you work in town?

i think you need to check if theres parking for bikes at bike's rate in your building....

It occured to me twice so far everytime I pump petrol to my scoot (PX150 - drumbrake model)....

So far after buying my scoot, I've pump thrice....

1st pump, no problems...everything normal

2nd pump, scoot cannot kickstart......tout it was the spark plug, but no cos I change new one also the same....then I tried closing the petrol valve and kick a lot of times (boy tat is tiring lor!!!!) and eventually turn on the valve again and broommm it goes....

3rd pump, same as 2nd pump, jus tat I tk shorter time to succeed starting my scoot cos of previous experience......

Base on the above scenerio, is it a case of overflow?

I did not open my throttle when I kick start, so meaning no excessive petrol 'flows in'....

I resort to the closing of petrol valve method as it happens to me many years ago when I rode XR4...back then, it is a confirm case of overflow...but since I'm a noob to scoot, can anyone out there please guide or advice me??

Thanks in advance

Yup... switch off the fuel when you switch off the engine... older models will flood if you leave the fuel tap on when the engine is off....

urgently need advise.

riding a px200

engine seized this morning. block cannot be rebored(bored too many times already). need to change block and piston.

1. 2nd hand block with new piston($210)

2. pinasco alloy block and piston($630)

pls advise/recommend.

currently on highway feel like the bike is maxed out.

1. hope to get somemore power if possible and reduce vibrations.

2. will alloy block increase the vibrations for the px200?

3. will there be much a diff in comparison to stock block and piston?

4. is the power gains justified by the cost?

5. will low speed vibrations increase?

basically looking at highway riding more then city riding. (70% highway)

Hmmm... $630 for a Pinasco kit seems too expensive. What d'you guys think? From which shop did you get the quote from?

hey fyghter, i had the same problem with my old px200. the only thing you can prevent that is to turn your fuel tap off before you fill up. or you can fill very slowly, that is, dont depress the trigger of the fuel nozzle and go full blast into the tank. hope this helps. i know how embarrassing/frustrating it it.

yup... pinasco is 440 now if I'm not wrong... The malossi is nearer 600...

More power = more vibration.... But honeslty, you'll get used to it... My scoot doesn't bother me and it probably vibrates LOADS more than yours will...

If you want a more comfy ride at speed, I'd first buy a second hand exhaust...

I'd also get a second opinion on your current cylinder... If a shop wants to charge you 600 for a pinasco, they are probably telling fairytales about your current cylinder also!

The Pinasco is a great kit, and very reliable when setup properly.
