-Prolly your coolant sux/ properties gone

-Check for leakage at Connector/ Hose/ Rubber seal@ coolant cap/ Thermostat

-Check if your WaterPump working, if not working, most likely it have caused it to be stagnant n dry off

Hi guys,

I jz bought a spec 3 yesterday. Apparently wen I got home I saw collant water leaking from a tube near the engine area. Didnt think much but it worries me wen I saw the amount of collant leaked was quute a lot. This afternoon wen I ride, as soon as I hit the traffic light the temp indicator light will turn on. This worries me. U guys have the same problem before?

Might have a leaking problem from either the coolant hoses or gasket. Coolant hoses will have wear and tear due to the heat and aging. Might be other factors such as faulty water pump etc.

Please go to a workshop to get it checked and fixed

There is no problem..just coolant filled up too full above second line marking. When too full..as you ride, coolant gets hot and pressure builds up pushing up level of coolant and comes up from the reserve tank overflow tube (the tube u see at the top of the white plastic container). In short..just ignore..the leak will stop when it when level reachedat the upper second line.

My coolant rubber hose burst and gave way while i was making my way to jb. Through some kind hearted biker...i reached a bikeshop in jb and changed my hoses to silicon hoses. i heard from some that oem hoses are better than silicon hose. wats the pros and cons of both type of coolant hoses ? can anybody advise. TIA

i removed the thermostat . the problem still persists.. jit lat man... the mechanic told me maybe it could the switch problem.. the switch that trigger the red blinking light.. sounds weird?

As long as your bike is not as hot as it should be..there is nothing wrong with your cooling system. There is not such thing as the temp light coming "on" after 15 mins of ride if it does likely ur meter is not an original. Many chiong meter has this temp light coming on unusually.

hi ah pek, ever since i ride my bike 3 to 4 years back i have never change my meter.. so could it be a case where the wiring problem as the bike is getting old.. ?

No..I don't think so. What I meant is that the day you bought the bike..the meter may be a chiong one already. Temperature lights comes "ON" at about 112 degree Celisus and that is VERY FCKING HOT!..fan cuts on by radiator fan switch is at 102 degree Celisus.

Just get my hoses and pump replaced. The mechanic removed the thermostat too. The mechanic also told me that the previous owner didn't connect back the fan when he changed the radiator. But last week when checked the coolant tank, it was empty. Top up to upper marking line, but just five days it dropped back to lower marking line? Is this normal.

i need to replace the whole set of radiator hose as i found a leak and the hose feels crumbly anyway. Any idea how much a set for Version S would cost?

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Hello, Riding spec 1 my coolant is leaking from the bottom part check it and found where it came from. The mechanic told me it the water pump leak and need to change quote about $220 to $250 and not included Radiator Flush. Anyone have this problem before? is the price ok? Thanks20140830_105850.jpg

spray with a sealant to the water pump ask them if they have the service

Can you do there without repairing the water pump? And by sealing you mean outside on the leaked itself? Thamks

Price for replacement is about there but usually $220. The other option is to see how the leak is coming from. If you open the pump and see that the housing or casing is rusted and has a hole..can always use Aradite or sound heat resistance epoxy. But if no hole on the pump chassis or cover housing..it's the pump water seal that has harden and crack. There are two rubber _O-ring seal..big and small one..big for coolant and small for eo I think..can be purchase from FJT or LAB (less than $10 a piece) but u have to DIY. Also get the rubber gasket seal for the pump cover. Good luck.
