my friend was driving a latio, but complaining since then, saying the FC is quite bad for a 1.5. quite 'compact' also.

Fit 08 is great,juz paid for a black FIT.Great interior and rather spacious.Fuel efficiency level is optimised,clocking 20-24Km per litre.I blive in paying for quality and reliability.

mazda 3 is really very slow to pick up speed, you really have to hit the accelerator to get it moving.

 

other than that, the rear cabin space is pathetic.

 

you must be driving alot on the expressway or going quite slow.

what is your rim size?

average speed on the expressway and normal roads?

 

my colleague is getting ard 9+km/l.

 

agree that the mazda 3 is pretty slow in terms of pick up for a 1.6 due to the poor power/weight ratio, and mazda uses bigger size stock rims. Thus FC will suffer. This car is built more for comfort, drive one and u can feel the conti-feel.

 

The car is built for a 2.0L and 2.3L model.

Btw, im driving a 2.0L mazda 3 and sure its no slow turtle, and although im quite heavy footed, im getting 10~11km/L.

bro, if given the below list 1.5~1.6, take the Latio(premium model). Good head room, good power to weight ratio, and nice interiors. Good leather too and keyless entry.

mazda 3 is comfy because of the seat cushions designed for the body shape, but that is its pros and cons. making the car feel very compact to me.

In term of technical aspect i beleive Mazda 3 was never design for euro standard but the first model of mazda 2 is.

Using the same platform doesnt make one equal. e.g. China car using Jap. engine. Does it make it simi-japs? Rover 416 (i think), using Honda engine and spec. Does it make it simi-cont-japs? Wrangler Jeep using Renault Engine does it make simi-west-cont? Anway, i can go on and on and on.

Mazda 3 may have the cont-feel and that's all it has. Unless someone can point to say in proof that it's simi-cont. Then i wrong lor

 

oh yes i forgot, Ford is U.S. base not Euro base.

bro, guess u are wrong. The mazda 3 is a popular car in north america. But in the 2.0L & 2.3L variant and also the Mazdaspeed 2.3L DISI turbo charged version.

 

Locally, we have only the 1.6 & the 2.0L version.

icic..sales ppl are like that. They only present the good points and boast some facts which aren't exactly accurate. We gotta do our own homework and test drive it.

may be you need to compare mazda 3 with a real conti car before you agree on the comment that it has 'conti car feel'.

i believe throttle said so because he compare his conti car with jap car.

i likes mazda 3 also, nice interior (best of all jap car), but can't say it handle like a conti car lah, different class...

Hey how come on Honda Civic, Nissan Axio? They are also consider as sedan call right? Furthermore the option are of different CC hard to compare some are 1.5, 1.6, 1.8. Hmm.. Budget play a part here. If example $80K is the budget I would also include Honda Stream as well. Nice car.

sorry but for me its definitely civic fd over the pathetic madza 3. the latter's build quality is crap and rear seat space is horrible.
