of cos adjust the setting is the easiest. but if the suspension is leaking, u have to either service or change a new one. showa is rebuildable. other alternatives are changing into bitubo n gazi shocks. bitubo is about $500 a pair i think. gazi less than $300.

up to individual preference...

servicing of fork, change fork seal n oil, to b done every 1 to 2 years. but normally, alot of riders tends to service it when it leak or got prob then service.

same goes to the rear suspension. just like front fork, needs to b serviced n rebuild. all these will affect the performance n quality of the ride.

in general, appearance more important than handling... thats wat i noticed in the forum. imagine the number of threads regarding suspension b it fork or rear shock is very little.

nothing happen, they wun bother to service it. but suspension, just like tyres, they support the whole bike including the rider n pillion when riding. i oso wonder y many riders dun take suspension servicing seriously.

anyway, lets not hijack the thread. the most important thing is to monitor the suspension condition every now n then. if just 1 fails u when riding, u r in deep sh1t.

yes bro, for front fork we recommend every one n half yr to service it cos there is air inside n make the oil fake more faster n rust the spring n spacer(simple engish) :cheeky:

for rear shock we do it after two yr cos s4 shock have nitogen separate with the oil n this will make the dampering more consistence. :thumb:

the front fork servicing i had on my vtec 1 is a wow... makes my floating rotors works better. thats personal feel. but my colleague say the braking feeling not that good. mayb thats due to an old brake pump. most important is dun let ur front fork bottom when doing hard braking.

instead of chaning fork springs, most motor shop add more fork oil to make it harder. so wats the difference?

if I'm not wrong the coil of the spring make the ride different. the coiling spacing some uniform, some very close at the end spread till uniform space which make the ride different for road use. . I heard the theory from frenz

it will make the forks travel less then before, meaning less stroke. for low stroke speed will be ok but if raining need apply harder brake pressure then it will have more problem. will not provide good traction .
