Will telcos like M1 actually use reconditioned handphones, pass them off as brand new and sell to customers without them knowing?

bought a brand new handphone a few days back, check thro the hp thoroughly when collecting, the first set had a dead pixel, the second one seemed fine.. but onli today found out that there are fingerprints beneath the Lcd cover.... on the Lcd itself... And my hp 6680 suposed to be non removable cover... (tho can take out la, but i nvr touch) reason i didnt see it that day was because under indoor light cant realli tell... onli todae was msging in the hot sun then realise, at first tot its below the screen protector, go hm take off clean le still like tat...

could the hp been a faulty returned set by another customer, after reconditioning, fitted with a brand new cover and sold to me?

:giddy: my was bought at discount which m1 gave so that i will keep my line.. and m1 cust service specifically told me to go down bugis to collect..

When cust complain they take bk 1 to 1 exchange. after that they repair then refurbish as a new set.

not reviving old thread but i just wanna clarify that the set that the topic starter got, was maybe the last set at tt point in time, thus it has been opened up and shown to customers, that explains the finger prints.

m1 might have forgotten to communicate to customers abt it.

When u buy a phone from telcos, chech for torn security labels or torn shrink wraps. Those are tell tale signs of phones that has been issued already. best if the person open the seal or shrink wrap only infront of you.. and reject if any flaws are found

Very possible. I had a similiar bad experience when my supposingly 'new' phone had a dead pixel, but it only came out on photos taken with the phone, (which explains why I didn't notice it during purchase). I believe there was a problem with the camera. There were also fingerprints but I was so excited over the new phone it didn't strike me that I might be holding a rejected set.

they told me they no longer do exchange... any prob go straight to nokia.

That was what they told me for my SE phone as well.

Please do check. My bad experience (related above) was from Cherry Mobile, authorised by Starhub.

TS already said that the fingerprints are beneath the LCD cover.

I tried that once, the people at Starhub told me that ALL their sets are opened (security seal broken), as they need to put the dealer's stamp on the warranty card when they receive the phone.
