Hi guys. Wad is the difference between the 1st gen and second gen? Besides the colour of the engine.

Was there more problems for the 1st gen bikes?

Is there a 3rd gen?

I'm looking at a few bikes in the 2nd market to compare.

No difference other than engine case colour. 1st Gen = polished metal. 2nd Gen = coated black.

1st Gen is just as reliable as 2nd Gen.

No 3rd Gen Super Four.

2013 CB400 just launched, which is based on the NC700. Better fuel efficiency but not as powerful as Super Four.

Hi i wanna ask if get a 2nd hand bike and the owner want to retain the plate number.... how much is going for the new plate number? please PM if u could. thanks a million :)

Posted (edited)

Got asked for help offline, which I thought is relevant info for potential Revo owners. It's also relevant for bike shop owners/salesmen/bike owners and etc who pooh pooh the Revo. I believe most are doing it so they can jack up prices of Spec 3 to clear their stock.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE REVO

"Hi there bro, need ur opinion on revo.. I intend to trade my spec 3 for a revo.. Any advise and price range for a revo... What year of manufacture are the models of revo now?"

Revo 1st generation - 2008

2nd gen - 2011 (I think)

No difference other than engine case colour.

"What type of full system is advisable, Yoshi or SP Tadao...

Is PC 5 recommended for revo?

Thanks bro... Intend to change by July...

Ur help is much appreciated"

Hi

Here are some reviews on the Revo.

http://www.productreview.com.au/qa/h...00.html#q43359

Like the Australians, I too am very happy with mine.

Exhausts -

Why would you want a full system? Performance?

The stock exhaust headers and end-pipe is good enough to hit top speed** and I can still keep up with Class 2 bikes when touring. When I say keep up, I mean that as in real world conditions with some traffic. Not straight line, zero traffic, open roads. There is no substitute for engine capacity when it comes to power.

The Revo's stock ECU also fuels the engine very well and provides smooth throttle response.

So, I personally wouldn't spend money fitting full systems nor would I use PC5 on the Revo because there's nothing wrong with the bike. Until someone shows me some dyno charts that says otherwise, I also don't believe full systems and PC5 can improve it's performance by much.

Exhausts - If you want a louder sounding bike, just change the end-can. I have heard Revos running Yoshi and Leo Vince end cans. Both sound more or less the same (bassy and louder).

Hope this helps.

** Some (only a few) Revo owners claim that their bikes can't hit top speed. My Revo is stock except for K&N filter and 520 chain and sprockets.

I and quite a few other owners have done it. The only reason I can think of that people can't hit top speed is down to the way they normally run their bikes i.e softly, softly, easy peasy...

The lock guard you have must be modified cos you have the monorack, need to remove/file/saw off a small slot.

The screws are good, looks simple but if thieves have the special tools, it doesn't prevent theft, but it deters theft.

your steering cone/bearing and front wheel bearing checked?

heavier bar-ends?

thanks alot sparkersS1.

There is nothing for you to do or worry about, the seller/owner will do the procedure and you no need to pay anything extra unless both of you agree on some agreements.

Usually seller/owner will pay to retain his number and a new number will be allocated by LTA to that bike.

Leave on side stand will do. Its just a rough indicator to shows ur engine oil level.

the correct method would be to keep it upright before checking (you can ask someone to sit on your bike and keep it up if you dun have a center stand). however you dun have to check your engine oil if you change the oil regularly every 5k km unless u suspect your engine oil is leaking. if you check it while on side stand u might not be able to see any engine oil in the sight glass at all.

Yes that's true. For me i normally check with side stand and can see the engine oil clearly. It makes no difference to me with side stand or up position. I can always see the oil level.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

So if the bike is uprght, the correct level i assume would be half of the sight-glass?

For my case the indicator is always fully covered with engine oil. Think there's line that shows the min level.

the correct level is anywhere between the min and max level marking which is visible beside the sight glass when upright. it doesn't have to be exactly half, like r1der mentioned it is just a gauge to see if u have enough or too little or too much engine oil. another thing to take note is that you only check while ur engine is cold or parked at least for awhile after riding. if you check the level after riding or starting up the bike, the oil level will usually be lower.

Nope. Sorry, but there's nothing rough about the indicator and leaving the bike on the side stand will give you the wrong reading.

Changing oil every 5,000km, which I don't recommend, doesn't mean that you don't have to check the oil level.

If you can see the oil in the sight glass when the bike is on the side stand, there is too much oil in your engine.

Check oil level when engine is warm, i.e. 2-3 minutes after idling for 3-5 minutes.
