But the thing is that this shop has no feedback on other FI bikes like GSXR 1000/cbr600/Fazer etc, when they transited from carbs to EFI. But I do ack your point.

btw, ne1 heard anything about a new model in the horizon.? It has been a good 6 years.

I dunno why the shop emphasis so much on revo while missing out that there are also negative comments about other bikes.

Honda has came out with parallel twins 400cc such as CB400X, CB400F & CBR400R which much focus is on EFI parallel twin engine.

Thus up to date there is no improvements or upgrades for Revo as its already using EFI.

The shop always supported the S4 series all the way short of revo. He also did tell me that there is no perfect bike. like G1 good has pros & cons on that, like wise for R1....etc. Even when I got my 929, he didn't say anything bad bout the EFI. But did tell me that 929's prob is the exhaust valve which helps with the low to lower mid rpm. To replace cost $400+ but he told me don't bother changing as it at times last barely a year. Since litre bikes have huge torque to begin with, just live with it. just throttle more b4 release clutch. Also told me that many 929 owners just remove the valve for good.

Oh, also told me that revo's fc not as good as the carb models. I asked shouldn't it be opposite since EFI, he told me no. Maybe he is benchmarking the number of issues that crop up (frequency) vs the carb models. Then when I asked how come people still buy? Was advised consumers have no choice. Want a brand new inline 4, 400cc, only have revo & gsr in which the latter's spare parts are heavily marked up. Have been in touch with him since 1999.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

been riding Revo for 3 weeks + (2nd hand bike, Dec 2010(black engine case series)

So far, beside the engine is slight hotter due to EFI engine (for me), engine was super quiet(all stock).

maintenance wise, almost same as class 2 bike, 4 plug, 4 bottle EO(replace oil filter), 2L coolant.

Tyre price also quite close with.

Still not sure about the bad remarks as claim like others, even few's of riding kaki stopping me to get REVO.

I think the the only concern me is the FC abt 19-21km/L. (almost same as class 2 FC).:sian:

compare my previous bike like Hornet 900, Fazer600, R1 04' and Suzuki K2 1000

- Hornet 9 (20km-21km/L) (PC3 tuning wif aftermarket exhaust)

- Fazer 600 (20km-22km/L) (After market exhaust change) no tuning

- R1 04' and Suzuki K2 1000 was abt 11km-12.5km/L (with after market exhaust) no tuning

downgraded as hardly for touring now...:dozed:

maybe will change bike again after a year or 2 year due to the maintenance too pricey for a 400cc bike. :cheeky:

Brand new CB400F/X looks good but maybe not as power as in-line S4, but maintenance wise shld be slight cheaper due to parallel twin engine. But is good to use in SG road and light touring purpose for those not always needed high end top speed.

Think about above i can think of and share (my own opinion).

I might be wrong... hehe....

*pls excuse my bad grammar... :p

Hi Guys,

I haf stop riding since i started driving at 2007. But now cars haf sky rocketed. I haf to get back to riding for work.

May I know the OTR price for Super 4 Revo? I see prices ranges from Global Motor at $11.5K to Excel Motor at $13.5K.

And wats the insurance premium like? I am 34 year old, married.

Please advise.

Think is quite cheap for the OTR price... I have check bike shop last 2 weeks OTR for S4 revo was $15.8k-$16.2k. Met a new owner S4 Revo and bought his bike OTR at $15.5k

i got mine 2nd hand (Dec 2010) at 12k OTR, kinda at high side after hearing all this....

quite sad.. feel like carrot chop.. =.=lll

didnt update myself the bike price due to a year+ i didn't ride bike and my bike price knowledge range stuck at a year ago where S4 Revo price at abt $17-$18k

My previous Version S with fruity end can + Knn filter + tendency to drag to 8-9k rpm whenever conditions allow also had constant 20km/litre.

Able to share the points that your kakis brought up to discourage u to get revo?

As mention bad FC (compare wif Spec1-3 which can achieve abt 26-30+km/L) and FI problem...

most class 2 bike now is with EFI engine also..doesnt seen any problem given ,but they didn't specific 'WHAT' problem for the "FI".

But according to my mechanic(shop owner), he claim that S4 Revo FI parts kinda sensitive; means if nothing much don't disturb the FI parts. Ever 1 fellow modify the air box to open pod setup and cause the FI parts spoilt ($1k+ replacement)

this is my 1st S4 bike.. so, i dunno how to compare to previous version, only base on what i read in the forum.

Overall, i felt S4 revo still ok as long as do proper servicing when time comes.

don't delay EO change etc.. think its apply to some others bike also... :)

also felt like i riding back my Hornet 900, the different only cc and power...

price for servicing everything is the same.. =.=lll

thats why have a thought wanna downgrade further to Scooter like Joymax300i, Xciting300i/400i... or maybe even Spark135, rode 2 years when work at Pasir Panjang... Serve me really well... :) very low cost bike.. :p

basically the bike is for my work transport nia... Punggol to Ubi... :)

quite wasted for 400cc... hardly have chance to perform... average expressway i rode 80-90kmh(overtake may up to 100kmh)

maybe when time where i active back to touring, then maybe looking for something from 600-800cc bike.

You depiction of the circumstances very familiar. my mechanic(shop owner) also does class 2 bikes with EFI but don't appear to view it negatively like the revo. yes, I was advised when the FI goes, = 1k +. Happened to his customer who chose a 2nd hand revo that was a couple years newer than a spec 3 because it only cost 1k +- more. But for me 400cc is a need as my total passenger weight daily is 150kg. Kups I think will really struggle & strain the bike. Maybe min 200cc like a Bajaj 200NS would be min req, but will have prob overtaking on highway. My prev Ver S was adequate + a little more to add a grin.

No offence to revo owners intended.

well, in that case will be up to individual owner how they "see' the bike as.. :)

to me not really fussy, i just ride and taking care properly to avoid breakdown as its go...

importantly must enjoy riding... :) weee~~~

not sure what to regret. loving every second riding it.

not someone who relies on hearsays but so far I hasn't met a revo rider who actually complains abut the EFI.

FC for me is about 22.8km/L

price differs between Revo with ABS and non-ABS model as well, about 1k different

but there are still people who hearsay ABS actually causes accident. LOL

My personal view is ABS on 4 wheels helps, but on 2 wheels, I am indeed very skeptical as the concept of gyrations and balancing is totally different.

apparently i think ABS on 2 wheels is more useful. 2 wheels are easier to skid and fall or fishtail if you lock your rear tyres. with abs it doesnt happen. especially during rainy days.

question : will u get a summon if your spec 1 tailboard is changed to a spec 3 tailboard when stopped by LTA? likewise for inspection, will your spec 1 pass with a spec 3 tailboard?

I tried hard to have a father but instead i got a dad.

For those accident wiv abs bike I think bcoz of they over confident to this feature.

ABS is useful for emergency braking in straight position at 100km/h on dry road but only reduce braking distance about 10% only. Under slant position & wet road condition not much help.

I don't think will get summon for that. But high chance of failing inspection.

I saw it with my own eyes at Sin Ming Vicom. A Version S failed inspection for the sharp tail.

If change end can alone, resulting in some back pressure loss, will it result in vibes/torque loss at low-low mid rpm? How bout if full system ? I had that issue when my Version S had freer flowing end can.

So far i didnt notice how much lost in low-end(mainly due to riding class 2 bike), but mid to high end was improve a lot. I ride wif few bike just end can replace without any tuning and everything works fine.. :)

of coz the best is install wif PC/3,PC/5 for better result...

But for full system, is a MUST(for me) to install PC to do proper tuning..

Does just the end can replacement help with heat management. perhaps slightly ? since its a little freer flowing?

imo, mods at this level may fail if u go urself.

But frankly, I also think its silly for LTA/vicom to be like this. I mean cars can put huge GT spoilers, full body kit, 15 inch wheels wack till 20 inch...etc They are just xtra anal bout bikes. Could be cos they have difficulty deciding where to draw the line & hence just nip it in the bud.

Or maybe they fear that if they allow cosmetic mods, it will evolve into creating groups identifying themselves.......leading back to the up to 90s era of moto Siao .......torch of fire.....night fanatism.....etc. So nip it in the bud.

Thanks bro. btw, earlier when u mentioned u get 20/litre, whats ur riding style? Mostly

Cos when the talk was that Ver S have good fuel eco 23-24/litre, I can only get 20-20.5 / litre.

Hence I was thinking If I rode a revo with the same style, I will be getting 17-17.5/litre ?

Oh ya, about changing just the end can part, from ur exp, did u get any noticeable increase in vibes at low-low mid rpm ?
