i think belt should be able to last at least 10k but i think riding style plays a part too..

if everytime wack full throttle, then surely wear and tear faster.. gear oil the shop mechanic told me don't need to change so often..

from manual, belt change is 25000km. went down hong leong to buy gear oil but mech say they dont sell, only change when you do servicing with them. then ain indian mech told me to use normal eo as gear oil. i ask, will there be aproblem.he says no.dont know who is right. anyway manual also say eo. so i think its good to disscuss it here.thks.

hey i just went to wing yap at amk and wanted to change the rear end suspension but the guy there told me that the if want to fit must cut the body a bit cause the can is outside. Also anyone here place or make a new holder for the i\u unit else where....

i put mine at the left pocket. an eyesore to have it on the handlebar. haha..

so, how often do you guys change the stuff? 1 mth has passed already. and i only check my engine oil level to be safe. apart from that, im clueless on how often to change gear oil, engine oil, coolant water, service carburator, change rollers/beltings and is there anything else i miss? and does nouvo use spark plugs? im not too sure if auto bikes got use spark plugs or not. haha...

anyway, i was interested in changing the wheels to sports rim one. does it mean i can just take any 16 inch sports rim and it will fit on nouvo elegance? cos i ask wing yap for the price. and they told me the damage will be $410 for both rims and tyres. but i go lorong bapok at JB, they told me it's RM400 for 3-spoked sports rim and dunlop tyres. RM240 for the rims and RM160 for tyres. anyone know where else that's more worthy to change the rims? and my friend told me he can bring me to his usual workshop at JB where 16 inch sports rim cost only RM160.

or is it even worth it to change from the spokey rims to sports rim? cos i feel the spokes rim will be very troublesome and expensive should a nail pierce through. but if changing to sports rim cost SGD$400, it's a bit too pricey. the reason for me wanting to change is cos i've researched that tubeless tyres are cheaper to maintain and better in the long run(lesser friction, lower fc,lesser wear and tear, better handling and blah3). anyone who have made the switch to sports rim can verify this?

for the belt, its true that a newly bought nouvo the belt can stay ok for more than 15k mileage... but then, when its more than 10k, the belt have loosen ald and give less power... yup, the belt that come with the bike last longer than the 1 that been sell on the market.... its got something to do with the front pulley i guess,...

for the eo, sure it can be use as the gear oil too, but for sure the eo and gear o is not similar in terms of its function, why go for eo when theres ald a specific oil for the gear?...

malossi belt use different material, and its called the kevlar belt, same material as the bullet proof vest... but im not sure that they produce parts for yamaha too (i mean like nouvo, ), bcos malossi make parts for the italian scooter like aprillia and gilera...

yes, nouvo do have a spark plug..

for the elegance model i guess its quite the same way, :

change gear oil : mine after 4/5k run, much likely after 3 times change eo

engine oil : 1.5/2k run, depends on what eo i use,

coolant water : heard that its better to use car coolant water than the yamaha oem

service carburator : 6 month? depends on bike condition

change rollers/beltings : both also depends on usage, cant depend on mileage, depands on how u ride, always full throttle means earlier change...

i dont know anything about the price of sportrims,

so nouvo elegance didnot come with sport rim in singapore?..

sportrims with tubeless tyre is great if u always on long distance,

but be aware that sportrims is heavier than spokes, so it affect your bike performance and fc... like mine, i change my sportrims to spoke, a 17" 1... just like the thailand styles...

Wow! Stereo, you know how to change belt? You must be a really experienced rider. Can teach or not? Are you from JB?

sorry, but im not in jb... im in kl.. but i do sometimes ride to jb..

its not a easy task tho, quick and easy way to learn would b from the mechanic that repair ur bike.. if not, watch and learn while he changing your belting, than buy all the tools needed... but trust me, things would be hard at first, but easier later...

my advice, if u stay with a standard bike, i guess you no need to worry much about the bike. follow your bike manual and you will b fine...

tips to go for speed?... hmm... without bore up your engine, i guess would be enough if you just change your roller, (the one that inside the front pulley)

some rollers tips, :

light roller : 8-10 g = increase your acceleration, but with high rev when top

heavy roller : 12-14 = go for top speed... but acceleration would decrease a bit...

wow,i didn't know so much bout the no. on the rollers..think i'm using 9 or 10,so that explains why my top speed is low..

its the roller weight, its affect how the belting can expand from by pushing the front pulley..

so heavier roller can help to push the pulley, thus belting can expand more..

more power on top speed:cool:
