Dear bros, I have juz gotten a Wave R, need your input on a few stuffs...

1) Fuel tank expansion, will this get sticky with LTA? Juz dun wanna visit petrol station that often.

2) Woodland check point, will ICA say anything if they find an extended petrol tank instead of battery compartment?

3) What is the nominal cost to respray the Wave R, which place do you guys recommend.

Early thanks Bro & Sis!

Have a great day!

Bro xianyu87 & i had a conversation about this awhile back.

check the previous page for posts.

pm him directly for explanation.

I'm also seriously looking at the same modification, though budget only allows me to do it mid-year earliest.

I've heard that wave is $300 to spray, if 1 colour only - haven't confirm this yet. Also dunno where cheap2 good2 place.

cheers!

Goodee hor hot goodee... Mat witz sebastian! :p

@SimpleRider, hey thanks for the reply, hahaha was thinking that everyone moved to Yammy Sparks liao lol.

Actually I had seen the previous posting and had sent the bike to Ah Ann on Monday to carry out the mod. He mentioned that it will take three weeks as his hands are now full. Bo bian, got to wait loh. Once it is back I m planning for either a respray or to change to Ah-boy cover set. Ah-Fook motor at AMK quoted $100++ for a set of chiong coverset (black colour only). In that case changing to new cover still cheaper to recondition the old set right? If spray work cost $300, I can get a chiong set for 100 bucks and spend the rest at Aunty shop for a custom stickers combo!

3 weeks? as in 3 weeks later than come back, or leave the bike for 3 weeks?

i know he omo, but still...

$100++ for a new (chiong) coverset? i guess its market rate - I check at bikepoint (kangkar tebrau, johor bahru) i got quoted close to rm300.

you always pump jb, ah?

cheers!

@SimpleRider, have you done any overhaul b4?

Was wondering if I should do a top overhaul or a full overhaul...what do you suggest?

Had read some of the earlier post that Wave's engine "eat up" thinner/cheaper engine oil.

Which are the thicker type that can"tong" for a longer period?

I've spent $800 before bike overhaul. but then again, i kenna golden parang.

from what i've been told, if your eo eat up alot + your FC drop + loss of power + loss of top speed, then can consider overhaul.

as for whether top or full overhaul, it defends on the damage.

this one gotta ask your mech.

yes, i was alarmed by it at first, but was told it was normal for wave to eat some eo - cos of the heat (hey, its only air cooled!)

what i can suggest is, use Maxima full synthetic (the red coloured label that says 100% ester)

use this for 3000km. BUT after the first 1000km, top up 100ml of eo (any eo, really) and do the same for the remaining per 500km intervals.

at 3000km, drain everything and change new eo. repeat process.

P.S. also remember to lube chain.

just my $0.02

Wow, $800! Had also checked with my bike shop, they were saying top overhaul about $100+ or less and full overhaul about $300+

depending on the state and condition.

I see, means that periodically must top up EO to prevent major overheating damages. Thanks for the heads-up bro!

Saw Wing Yap selling those engine oil flush nuts at $15 per pcs. Can suck in those metal debris from the internal wear n tear.

Had you tried those? Works wonder on my Super 4 but not sure about WY product quality.
