Thanks a lot to defected, I borrowed a fancy spanner wrench!!

 

 

And the last night did it: turned the preload collar to "1" that looks like the softest (and effectively the lowest) setting:

 

 

The previous setting was "2" but even one click gave about 1 cm drop at the level of the rear axle when loaded (my weight, ~74 kg).

I didn't have time for a test drive though, will do today/tomorrow :)

Another thing, just for curiosity sake: my engine block does not look like a common plain aluminium one.

Here it is:

 

 

It is painted black between fins and fins are "cut" sharp on sides.

Was it a stock Steed option?

 

The previous owner (the bike had been with the only owner all 16 years!) says he didn't do any mods and it looks like he didn't..

From the picture of the fins, it looks fantastic. I wouldn't say it's a mod, but more of a good visual upgrade.

Hi guys!

 

Can anyone point me in the direction that i can buy new disc for my brake? Mine in usable just that its rusty!!! Haha.

Any good mechanic to intro for servicing of Steed 400 VLX near to SengKang?

People. I need help~

 

My steed 400 was riding alright up till recently. I turn on the power and there are light as per normal. Then the whole bike black out when I try to start the engine. I have checked the wires and everything is fine and there was no loose wire. After checking, there is electricity again! But electricity was cut when i attempt to start engine. I did managed to start the engine momentarily after repeating the process of pulling and pushing of the wires. but i have great difficulty to start the engine roaring. Can anyone help me? is it faulty starter relay switch or what?

Didya check ur battery connection? Starter got cranking and strong?

Starter switch (on/off) ok?

Cos for steed lights go off wen press the start button to direct all current to the starter.

Hi all, just got my steed a month ago. Thinking of changing tires as i feel the bike slipping when i corner. Current tires i have are Dunlop 100/90-19 M/C for the front, and Bridgestone 150/80-15 M/C for the back, both tubeless. Any recommended brand for tires and pressure setting? Appreciate the help.

Yes plug and play. But for the vlx model, it doesn't really flow with the long fender side panels piece. But not that obvious lah. Vse and springer shld be ok. Msg me if ure interested to buy the tank. Thx

That one hard to find bro. Hahaha

U can try to get another steed vse seat and cut up the passenger seat part. Maybe reshape the rider seat to the shape you want and add in a plate for bolting to the rear fender too. I had a seat from my vse but someone bought it already.

The vse steed doesn't have a bolt hole between seats so even if u can get a springer seat, u still have to make a hole in the rear fender to mount the seat.

That's very useful info bro! This bike feels different from my Dragstar which I rode many years ago. I let it go for another bike. Then had kids and no bike. Now itchy get bike again.Decided for another cruiser. Took over from my dad. Otherwise I found VLX seats from Taobao; cheap. Dunno can fit anot. Haha!
