Hi Guys.

 

Appreciate some advice on Honda Steed.

 

Its been quite a while since I ride ever since I switch to driving.. so kind of lost touch on biking..

 

Now thinking of getting a ride as wifey driving the car mostly now..

 

I'm currently looking at a Honda Steed. Had viewed the bike. Its stock paintwork. Visually I dont see any leaks. Engine sounds okie. FM plate COE expiring end Aug 2015.

 

Is 1.5K reasonable?

 

Appreciate any bros advice!

U can try changing to honda shadow seats? But rear fender good to change too cos the seats are wide. I hv the fender and seats to sell if ure interested. It came off my steed...

Thank sprint 74. I PM-ed you. Can I check the impact of comfy for pillion? Current seat is rider and pillion seats are connect as one with very low form. So pillion riding posture is like sitting on a squad and very tired posture.

 

Addition to changing pillion seat, any additional ways to improve riding posture for pillion? Thank in advance for your opinion ...

Hi guys, first and foremost, I just discovered the wonderful world of cruisers, choppers and bobbers alike and also the joy of riding a steed. Some friendly chap riding a steed the other day honked at me just to wave hello and it really made my day to know that the steed community is really friendly. ah boy has cheap ones but they're really thrashy, leather will wear off, parts will get torn off, metal parts will rust very quickly. but hey you get what you pay for!

U can try get a sportster one but place the backrest on the outside of the slots instead of slotting in the hole. Itll make the backrest wide enuf to clear the rear fender. But u might have to redrill new holes depending on ur steed model.

It's been great riding a steed. Most of us will probably elect to scrape our steeds at their end life. Some bros have already scrapped their vlx-es. I am wondering what other cruisers, fall into the value area like steed. Value for money for its bullet proof engine & looks.

Hi guys, URGENT ISSUE, hope you guys can shed some light on this.

 

Recently my steed kept "dying" especially during idling. When i move off from gear 1, it is like as though having the feeling of no fuel (im on full tank), like in fuel is inject when i throttle. But i hit higher speed, it rides normally. When I'm at the stoplight or sth den the idling will keep going weaker and weaker and sometimes stop. I alr tune my idling to the max to stop the idling from dying and i recently just serviced my bike. I changed engine oil, changed my air filter as well as washed my carburetor.

 

I went to one mechanic he say my carburetor is spoilt. My own mechanic said so too after some diagnosis. I saw the carburetor like "LAU HONG" but i just serviced my carb man:/ Hope you guys shed some light on this issue:) Thanks!

What about the spark plugs? Maybe the spark ignition coil got problem? At higher speeds more current is generated so the bike works fine. Lower speeds less current so spark to cylinder not so strong so engine dies while idling. Just my 2 cents.

You might want to have your carbs taken apart and have a look at the rubber diaphragms. My mech found a hole in one of the diaphragm which caused the bike to ride and idle rough. Its a wear and tear issue. And also, do check the rubber connectors between the carburetor to the block and the ones at the airbox. It could have cracked due to age or dislodged during the servicing. Other than that you might want have the air fuel mixture sorted and carbs balanced. Good luck!

hey thanks guys for the response. I checked online, they all say the symptoms gotta do with the carb. @Sprint74, cannot be the spark plug issue because i changed the spark plug twice within 2 months and the mech tested the ignition coil. @defected, i jus changed the rubber connectors during my recent servicing. I also had my air and fuel mixtured tuned and carb balanced last week. How much to change carb? my mechanic say got a old spare from the scrapyard in good condition. He quote me $200 including workmanship.
