Hi SBF members,

 

I just pass my 2b license and will be getting a bike. However i still do not understand how each type of insurance cover us. There are 3 types that i know, 3rd party, 3rd party fire and theft and comprehensive.

 

Wat is the diff b/w the latter 2? wat does comprehensive cover>?

I am reading my current Income policy. Section 1a reads "accidental collision or overturning". This is not the same as "accidental damage" mentioned in post #13, which would be found in most motorcar policies instead.

 

In simple terms, dropping the bike without "accidental collision or overturning" isn't going to qualify.

can some1 help me with this. what are the insurance company that insures bike? other than ntuc, i really cannot find other contacts on the net. can some1 here help me with this?

class 2B : 27 November 2007

class 2A : 21 April 2009

class 2 : 21 October 2010

class 3 : 21 August 2007

let's say im taking over this particular bike. its possible to transfer the insurance policy over from my current bike right? and if i do so, do i have to lay up my current bike?

 

pls pm me if possible or post here. thanks!

Nop, i dont think so. Each premiums only entitled to one bike ea, cause of different CCs bikes(e.g Class2b,2a,2).

Class 2B - 11-Dec-09

Class 2A - 21-Jun-11

Class 2 - 14-Sept-12

 

Previous Bike : Daelim Roadwin Naked Version, Yamaha FZ16, Yamaha FZ1S

cos from what i understand, u can cancel ur current insurance and within certain number of days(90 days i think), ntuc will pay you a pro-rata refund if you thereafter take up another motor insurance policy. If you do not take up another motor insurance policy, they will pay you 85% of the pro-rata refund.

 

so am i right to say that u can cancel first, den apply a new insurance? cos im only 4mths into my current policy.

 

another question is that, if i cancel the insurance for my current bike, is it a must to lay it up? cos im trying to sell it off before i take over my new bike. worried that im not able to sell it off by then.

 

help will be much appreciated. thanks!

No you can't. You need to get a new one for the new bike.

Yes, without insurance u need to lay up ur current bike.Before owning a bike u need insurance cert, else the bike could onli be lay up purpose.

 

If cant sell off, then push to shop to sell them, eventhough u get less of wat u want but still it's something :)

Post #13, is a general guide. You will have to read the your insurance policy wording on what are the coverages they provided to you.

subrider do not get insurance. You will have to ask the owner of the bike to add your name into his/her insurance policy so that you can ride that bike.

Pillion doesnt need a insurance... even if ur wife can ride and ride ur bike..jus add sub rider ok le...dun need get 2 insurance..hope its help
