Hello! I'll be there for a few years at the very least. I've settled all the items that you have listed ... and wow! I must say it is really quite a hassle, but nonetheless, I'm glad that's all done! Now I'm all psyched up to see if I can ride over there. Especially along their long high ways right next to the coast! Do you happen to know where I can find a good "motor diam" there? Maybe like a trustworthy reseller that you have experience with? Also, do you happen to know some good routes that probably, you have travelled before? Thanks for the heads up in advance! Cheers!

Yep, Asus is really good as well. Been using a netbook by them and all my server builds are using Asus boards... right from their P5Q series and up. The other alternative that some others use is: Gigabyte. Haven't tried those personally though, but worth a lookout for as well.

I'm with Deus on this one. I think the cost savings is pretty negligible and for those who can afford a couple of bikes, I think the amounts due will hardly be of concern. Just my two cents! Cheers

Hi all, I will be in the West Coast of USA for quite some time and I was wondering if it is worth it to get a bike to tour around? Also, I was wondering if any of you guys have/had been in the USA for work/study and own a bike there? Should I purchase a bike there from a previous owner or should I purchase from a proper reseller? Or maybe even directly from an agent? Does anyone have experience with these? Also, for maintenance wise, are there good or well known shops or mechanics that I should look out for? Anyone with any amounts of experience, pleas do share Many thanks in advance! Cheers!

Where are the awesome SG riding roads?
FloydRose replied to eeboontan's topic in TCSS Kopitiam Corner
One day might be a little too rush for you man. But you could do a road trip to all the nice food places around in sg. Do you know any riders here? It'll be good to have someone show you around -

I think it would be wise to write in to them to check and clarify on the matter. It doesn't quite make sense that you're caught in this predicament. Do write back and let us know so we can all learn from this!

Wow! Cool! But I'm sticking to my Honda scrambler for now lol

It's normal, but if you don't like it or the white smoke really bugs you, consider going for a 4stroke engine next time around

should I turn off my external hard drive when not in use?
FloydRose replied to Fried Rice's topic in TCSS Kopitiam Corner
Not sure if this thread is dead, but I happen to see this and like to chime in: If your hdd doesn't spin down (you can hear it whizzing or spinning) when you are not actively using or accessing it, it means that the mechanical motor is spinning and will lead to mechanical wear and tear. However, if you are using a solid state drive (ssd), then you aren't quite prone to such mechanical wearing. So, like what the others advise, when not in use, it is better to keep it unplugged -
From what I see these days, most of the prices are pretty controlled and don't stray quite far from say, some other products like mainboards and all. For normal hdd brands, Seagate is really awesome. Thus far, all the servers and computers that I've built over the years are all using Seagate products. Also, I'd say go with a USB 3.0 to future proof yourself and the prices are going down steadily. These days, you can get 1TB for approx SGD $ 120 or less. PM if you need further details

Just to chime in, I haven't quite started my bike for a month now as well. The battery is a little weak, but I still managed to push start my 4-stroke Engine bike (mine's an electric start, not kick start). Rode it around for awhile and soon it was back to normal. I sure hope it will hold charge, but if it drains out, then I guess it's time to replace the battery

Up for the great thread! Wonder how it is that I haven't seen this before. Nonetheless, Jalan Lekar is still available for parking. Not too sure if you would want to leave it there for a week while in camp though, just something to consider Oh, I forgot to mention, most reservist still park there too!

These days most computers are using Intel chips. Hence, go for one of those good main board manufacturers; e.g. Asus. They're one of the largest main board producers and they stack well with an Intel chip. However, if you don't quite want to think about using a Windows OS, then just head straight for a Mac Book Pro or Mac Book Air. They're really good hardware with a software stack. Hope it help! PM me if you need further help
