im running in smoothly. hehe. swee. i will write my now.

1. i just pumped 18.7litres of petrol (specs said 15litres including 2 litres of reserve) and universal motors told me they pumped somewhere betw 1litre to 2 ltires for my bike for collection. so total 18.7litres + 1litre = 19.7litres. i tink full tank 20 litres. bloody hell. IM IMPRESSED. ths time ihave got better reasons to visit msia

2. each gear transmission is pharking smooth. much smoother den phantom. i know i cant compare phantom with pulsar la.. but its just a comparison to show the smoothness of the gear change

3. every 3krpm i change gear and soon i reached 5th gear(max) at a speed of 40km/hr and SURPRISINGLY, the bike's engine is still going strong! wont like those te da te da that kind of engine dying feeling

4. as for the fuel consumption.. i cant say anything yet but for sure, i would haf finished running in w/o refilling my petrol

5. the box is firm with LED rear brake lights.

6. pictures. will be uploaded soon.

more to come!

No more regrets.

yup....it's much cheaper to maintain than a super4. engine oil only 1.7L but i change every 2000km. The best part is i MUST use semi-synthetic if not the clutch will slip.

i average clock 25-26km/L for normal acceleration. I clock 30km/L before i change my sprocket.

While it seems that xr4 is cheap to maintain and ride, i lose out on comfort and speed. Top speed 125.7km/h after changing sprocket. Of cos my fren clock >180km/h but he's mod siao. Riding from my house to tampines is a pain in the arse..haha...so conclusion..super4 better la..hee :cheeky:

hmm..i think it depends on what kind of oil are you comparing with i guess. Last time i use Motul 5100 which cost me $13 a bottle. Now using Fuch Comp 4T which cost me $6 a bottle because of the lobang.

How about oil filter? i change every 2 oil change, and the oil filter is $4 which i bought from FJT. It's fun diy my own bike. I just learnt how to tighten my valve clearance which requires 45mins work. It will cost me $15-$20 to do it at shops.

I wish i know how to dismantle my engine...haha..maybe i should go work for my mechanic during the 3months holiday. hehehe

okok

overall, XR4 still cheaper to maintain

but i really surprised the top speed so slow, stock ah? My friend's old xr4 can also go up to 160km/h like that, he went with us to KL and cameron highlands.

i'm unsure of the exact technical details of the semi-syn having less clutch slips. but mechs recommand semi syn for older bikes, alex's cbr uses semi syn, same reason. The layman like me will say fully syn is too 'smooth' i guess

i'm not very sure..but it's a well-known fact among xr4 riders that full-syn engine oil will cause clutch slip. I have not tried full-syn myself. My stand is...i rather use cheaper oil and change more frequently rather than using a more expensive oil and change less frequently.

my reaction is exactly like yours when my fren told me that BMW bikes must use mineral oil. He told me must use cheap oil , the cheaper the better. The amazing thing is BMW are known to last and he has not heard of any BMW breakdown before. But i cant vouch for that though.

but i only know how to do mine leh....yours inline 4 engine v scary..haha

xr4 must tighten valve clearance frequently. The tell-tale sign is the loud "ting ting" sound that will not go away even after warming up. I figure i will not bring to shop and tighten perodically because i'm a poor student, so learning how to do it is the way to go i guess. haha...at least now i can tighten as and when i feel like it at my own discretion. hehe

i already bought all the oil he had with him liao lor....paiseh paiseh..hehe

bone-stock xr4 can hit 140km/h max. i used to be able to hit that speed before changing sprocket. i guess your fren probably mod the bike, if not stock bike most likely canot hit >140.
