sure can one la...must be persistant in finding....i worked every single holidays since sec 2...no choice cos my mom will not give me money to buy things that i wana own...but it's good cos of all the years of experience i made and friends and weird ppl you encounter

my first job : Macdonalds' ! freaking $2.50 per hour, then pay rise until $2.80...that time still have to deduct CPF...then in the end only earn $400 a month, which is more than enough for a sec 2 boy that time. :cheeky:

since u zuo bo...can go work as canadian pizza..it's one of the more fun job i had. CCK branch that time $4.50 an hour, $0.50 per docket..low pay....no CPF...but the good thing is the timing very flexible, you submit your own schedule and the boss will plan accordingly. The most dockets i ever sent in a day was about 45-50...can see chio bu when u send pizza also..haha...and there was once an ang mo wearing bikini at home to receive the pizza...haha...the best thing is time pass damn fast when it gets busy...one trip usually takes at least 20-30mins to go and come back to shop...if u send 2-3 orders togther, you probably will be back 1hr if u take your time. But quite dangerous la....cos the vespa brakes CMI, i almost langgar car backside many times...haha...now they using the yamaha YBR, should be safer now. i ever though of going back to work..cos that time cant find tuition assignment and i need to save money for May trip..heng i found tuition eventually...good money man :cheeky:

Icedd, you want to sign on ah??

Must consider carefully

Now the SAF or any govt agency is no longer an Iron Rice Bowl concept, there is no guaranteed renewal of contract.

Many regulars who returned to the corporate and commerical working world find themselves having a harder time to adjust

____________________________________________________________________

Regarding the savings part

Imagine if I had save my $100 of my combat bonus.

1 mth: $100

1 year: $1200

5 years of savings: $6000

Assuming a modest growth of 5% returns.

5 Years returns: $6962

If not because I want to go touring, I wouldn't have bought a Super4 last time. Then maybe now can downpayment Car liao, haha.

i always ask myself, with that amount of money, would it be a smart move to buy a car? and tie myself down with months and months of installments that never seem to finish?

Honestly, i would rather seek better ways of spending that money to earn more money.

I always rate car as luxuary, not necessity. Of cos, bike is not necessity also compared to public transport. But i'm riding more for passion rather than transport, if not i would have gotten something like RXK instead. Buying car, in my honest opinion, is a waste of money unless you are sitting comfortably on a huge fat stable income. Stuck in jams every single morning and evening, pay season parking at workplace and home, pay installments/insurance/road tax/petrol/erp/fines through my nose every month is certainly not what i want.

I can bet that there are plenty of people who buy car simply to SHOW that they can afford it.

I remember reading somewhere that the expenditure of a car should not exceed 30% of your monthly pay. Assuming you earn $3000 after CPF deduction, what car can you get with $900 INCLUDING yearly road tax and insurance? :help:

going by ur saving plans... if im in ns.. only can save for 2 years ma, studying that time... i tink its hard to save 100 a month without any jobs..

cars... i guess its more of a luxury for singles... we juz nid a bike to move around... but when u have a family in the future... with children.. i guess a car would be more practical.. imagine whole family going out.. taking bus/mrt... kinda troublesome... even more so when u have toddlers in the family.. :help: lol.... juz wad i tink abt owning a car... so i guess i will be riding till i get married or something.. haha

That's what i plan too, i will only eventually buy a car if i have a family and i have a fat pay cheque. :thumb: Even then, i will not stop riding.

Wah you will be amazed by how much i saved in army, that time my allowance is $550 a month, i only need to pay for petrol and maintenance every month, plus occasional dinners/meet up with frens during weekend, i'm saving about $300 a month.

But all that i saved goes back to bike for wear and tear parts..Zzzz...back to square one.
