Hi Linda,

I find that Total is very rough during the first 10min is like I pour sand into my engine. Inside I feel like the engine oil sanding my engine down.. After that it becomes very smooth. I think Total really good for flushing engine flushing. I guess will change to Mobile one or ELF or AMSOIL or MAXIMA next month.

Later I will page R1 to go shop for engine oil..:)

Turn clockwise until cannot turn already (do screw in too tight), if the screw drops out it means u r are turning wrong direction. then turn opposite direction 2.5 full turns out, that is the factory setting, but that is not the best air/fuel mixture setting for ur bike. Get ur bike to the mechs and have it tuned according to ur bike's condition.

The air/fuel screw only determines ur air fuel mixture for idling. So dun expect to see improvement throught the rev range.

Maxima extra 15w50 cost $21 (dun noe whether they increase the price, they change eo for u) at MAH Motorparts at Dunlop Street. If ur buy eo home to change urself, should be $20 now (according to the lady at the counter.) Last time I bought is $19 (about 2 weeks ago), I change eo myself.

I used esso eo (mineral one) once during run-in. Sucks to the core, change it out after 2 days. Esso synthetic never try before so dun knoe about it.

K&N air filter will improve overall performance, BUT:

1. You have to change ur jet size, if not ur air/fuel mixture will get very lean (too much air, not enough fuel).

2. You must get ur bike carb tuned to make use of the extra advantage of K&N.

3. If ur bike is not properly set up, u might suffer poor fuel consumption (bikes start to drink more petrol). Or even worse, overall performance might be affected. Even though none of the guys are suffering from these possibilities, it is better that u r cautious. Check with the pulsar thread for more info on this.

4. Recently someone bought the K&N at less than $50, should be in the high $40s range.

Finally, if u want a total piece of mind, maybe u can head down to Universal's Bajaj Pulsar Workshop and ask the mechs there to diagnose ur problem for u. Then u can decide if u want to service any fault there, based on price of service quoted to u. Ask for their labour cost, usually they only tell u the parts cost.

They are very transparent in their dealings, just ask them to quote u everything, in advance. They only do bajaj pulsar bikes in that workshop so the mech are quite experience on pulsars in that sense.

Good luck..

yo bro the knn air filter is 46buks to be excat. yes u must do a carb tuning, cos the air filter will consume high fuel.

and i'm starting to have doubts bout mechanics at Universal motors, cos i was there to change the bulbs some time back, i asked a staff named Chirstoper did the mechanics go to India for a proper training to deal with the bajaj here, he replied NO, but Universal's 2nd shop which modifies bajaj n other bike got a manager named micheal (Universal belongs to micheal too)

said YES all went to India for training, i asked a mechanic there n he said no la wher got go there one!! I'm seriously getting very pissed with the F-ed up work they do on certain bikes! I changed my rear brake shoe, after travelling bout 100kms there's a squeaky noise comin from it, i went back they did some air pressure **** n its now back again, its so much of a hassle goin tat far for small probs like tis...

 Bikes don't leak oil, they mark their territory.

The Brakes Squeal When They Are Applied:

When you step on the brakes you hear a loud, or maybe not so loud, screeching or squealing noise. This noise may come and go, or remain constant. The car may or may not pull to one side when the brakes are applied.

Possible causes:

Dirt or brake dust accumulating on the pads/shoes: Clean and sand brake pads/shoes and rotors/drums. These will probably return in a week or two.

Brake pads and/or brake shoes are worn out: Replace the brake pads/shoes as required.

Brake pads/shoes and rotors/drums are glazed due to overheating: Clean and sand brake pads/shoes and rotors/drums.

Audible Wear Indicators are contacting the rotors: Replace the brake pads.

Since ur brake shoe is new it probably is not worn in yet. u can either get the mechs to sandpaper the brake shoe for u, or find a no traffic area and wear in the brake shoe by stepping on the brake while moving until the sound starts to go away(not as easy as using sandpaper). Meanwhile, take note that ur rear brake will not be as efficient.

I am not sure about Universal sending their mechs to india for training. To me, it only make business sense to send one or at most two better skilled ones over to india for training then come back and train others.

Since so far I have only seen three mechs there, my guess is at most one went. I wouldn't be surprised if none went.

Since pulsar is mechanically a basic bike, any mech after fiddling for a while will be able to handle the repairs and servicing. Only the electronics poses a challenge to the mechs, thats why when digital meter got something wrong, they always ask u to change the whole unit.

But given the schematic of the digital meter PCB, one should be able to find the fault. Usually in the case of display flickering, disappering information, etc its caused by bad solder/contact joint.

Lindavw my FC still superbad.. lolx.. cant find the problem...

so ur full tank how much???

there are quite alot of factor affecting FC. air filter , plugs , fuel used, tuning so on.

however if ur bike can hit 600km on the main tank should be reasonably economic already la...

The Pulsar 180 DTSi comes from a company called Bajaj which has its HQ in India. The company is one of the leading manufacturers of 2 & 3 wheelers in India. The Pulsar model was launched sometime in 2003 and they have made considerable changes/enhancements to the bike since then. The bike is known for fuel economy, good styling and most of all "No Maintenance" vehicle. I personally own a Pulsar 180 DTSi and think its a great vehicle for Singapore roads. One might find it vibrating if you try exceeding speeds of 110 kmph. Its a nicely engineered and well styled street bike. Some tech specs of the bike are as follows:

Engine: 178.6cc, 4 Stroke, Single Cylinder, Air Cooled

Power: 16.5 BHP @ 8000rpm

Gear Box: 5 Speed

Ignition: CDI

Front Brakes: Disc

Rear Brakes: 130mm Drum

Front Tyre: 2.75 X 17

Rear Tyre: 100/90 X 17

Wheelbase: 1330mm

Ground Clearance: 165mm

Dry Weight: 140 Kg

Tank Capacity: 18 Litres

Wheels: Alloy Mag wheels

Mileage on Full Tank: Approx 650 kms in Singapore city riding

Hope this was useful

The Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTSi comes from Bajaj India; a company with its HQ in India and is a leading manufacturer of 2 wheelers and 3 wheelers. The company has a reputation for producing vehicles that provide great fuel economy and low maintenance.

The Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTSi was launched sometime in 2003 and since then has undergone lot of cosmetic and engineering changes. I have been riding a Pulsar for over 2 years and I think its a brilliant bike in the Class 2B category. The bike is literally a "No Maintenance" machine with no problems

In terms of fuel efficiency, you can ride atleast 650 kms on a full tank of 18 litres.

On the downside, the bike tends to vibrate a bit on higher speeds exceeding 110 kmph and the top speed is about 120 kmph. Frankly, one doesnt need to go any faster than 100 kmph in Singapore.

The bike is also well-balanced and I have seen people perform some really cool stunts (wheelies) on this bike.

Mentioned below are some of the tech specs of the bike:

Hi, your is digital or analog one? Do you have the common oil leaking and gear shifting problem?

The problem is not you can afford it or not, is how are you going to make yourself able to afford it.
