My idle speed is only 1K rpm. No prob at all during cold start but can tell from engine sound that it's too slow, sometimes sounds like dying during warm-up. So during upcoming 3rd servicing, gonna ask mech to increase to 1.5K rpm. By the way, if u have prob during cold start, u can use the choke. But don't forget to turn it off before riding off lah.

I lube my chain every 500km. That's what the manual says anyway. Using Maxima Chain Guard synthetic chain lube which I bought from Mustafa Centre for $12 I think. Maybe cheaper at motordiams. I just spray the lube onto the chain thru the hole at the side of the chain guard.

Hey Bro, welcome.

Anyway just to let you know,i also got my bike from southern motors.well i do admit the treatment is not of what u had in mind but most or majority of motordiam got this kind of attitude...

About the manual and warranty card, there's no warranty card only inside the manual there's a warranty page so ur manual is ur warranty as well.

btw i assume ur paying installments?..if ur paying by installment then when u pay ur first installment then u will also receive ur manual, photocopy of ur log card..etc.If u already paid in full then when u do your first servicing,go to the office and ask for ur manual and all the other stuffs. All the mechanic and staff below dun realli care about it.just find the office and relate them ur issues.

The warranty for the bike is one year or 10,000km whichever comes first.but mostly 10,000km will comes first unless u dun really use the bike.since only universal are the distributor, all other motorshop get the bike from them so when u ask where, dun think they can answer u also cos it all depends on what is the problem.usually they will try to fix it first if cannot then they sent it back to universal.

when problem arise do go to southern first cos thats where u got the bike as ur still under warranty.if ur bike is out of warranty then u can go anywhere u want.

Bro Z^^kia, seems like most of them are busy...like none seems interested.

Such unpleasant incident is one of the reasons why I feel it's safer to get the Pulsar from Universal Motors (David, if u're reading this, I'm recommending ur shop again leh!). Whatever it is, u'll need the manual cos like outspoken said, the manual is also the warranty doc. In the meantime, I can give u a photocopy of my manual. I live in Bt Batok, so maybe can meet up at West Mall. SMS me at 93696101.

By the way, for those of u who bought ur Pulsar from Universal, I can confirm that 1st 5 servicings are free. Just been to Universal earlier this afternoon for 3rd servicing. And Universal has just opened a new showroom-cum-workshop at Blk 1008 Bukit Merah Lane 3. It's next to HKL and just 2 blks behind the current workshop at Blk 1006. Can go to either workshop for servicing.

Bro, Universal IS the Sole (one and only) Distributor (agent) of Bajaj bikes in S'pore. That means Universal is the only shop officially appointed by Bajaj to bring in Bajaj bikes to S'pore and sell to individuals and to other shops. Currently no parallel importers. So all other shops (authorised dealers) get their Pulsars from Universal.

Just to put the record straight here so that would-be or new buyers of the Pulsar won't feel conned .....

(1) The current variant of the Pulsar has a 15-litre tank, smaller than previous ones (16 or 18 litres, I think). So mileage per tank will be lesser.

(2) Fuel consumption is also affected by a biker's riding style (how he accelerate, brake, change gears, etc) as well as the amt of load the bike carries, the maintenance condition of the bike, etc.

(3) I did get 50km/litre or 750km on 1 full tank of 15 litres. But that was at a top speed of only 60km/h at 5000rpm in 5th gear. To get 800km/tank or more, u'll probably have to "ride smoothly and steadily at an optimum driving speed of 40 to 50km/h or within the 'Green' zone of the Tachometer" - as mentioned in the manual. This setting is more for India where the road conditions aren't as good as in S'pore, hence the lower riding speed there.

Whatever spark plugs any of u guys intend to get, just take note of the following spark plug specs for the Pulsar:

(1) Resistor type

(2) Thread size - 10mm

(3) Thread reach - 19mm or 3/4"

(4) Hex size - 16mm or 5/8"

(5) Heat rating - 4 (for Champion plugs)

- 9 (for NGK plugs)

- 27 (for Denso plugs)

In an article I've read, it was mentioned that many riders have caused serious engine damage due to their lack of spark plug knowledge. While it's natural to be attracted to all the supposedly good stuff abt high-end plugs and other accessories, do make sure that they're compatible with ur bikes.

Just my 2-cents' worth based on my humble and limited knowledge .....

hi, CR9IEX is definitely not standard plug.

i reckon it would be more towards race.

neway, tis is the OEM plug for big bikes like R1 and R6. ;)

for bajaj, plug with heat rating of 8 is more suitable.

personally, i would rather use a cheapo $2 plug and change it every 10k mileage.

coz bajaj supposed to be for tpt purposed mah..

unless of course, u can prove tat a $12 CR9IEX plug can give u more miles..

cheers :)

Bro, before u get excited over nothing, relax lah .....

If u read my post carefully, what I've posted is based on my internet-based research, not on my personal experience or expertise. I'm a newbie, u see.

http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/

The above website has a cross-reference search engine which u can use to find alternative plugs to a particular plug. According to their database, the 5 listed plugs have the same specs (in terms of thread size, thread reach, hex size & more or less, heat rating) and/but same/different construction & type to the Champion RG4HC. This website lists the CR9EIX as a std plug. If u wanna dispute that, u can take it up with Spark Plugs.co.uk.

I indicated the heat rating of 9 based on the 2 listed NGK plugs (CR9E & CR9EIX). If there're other NGK plugs that are compatible with the Pulsar with a heat rating of 8, then good lah since u say that for the Pulsar, plugs with heat rating of 8 is more suitable.

What u do with or put into ur bike is up to u lah. Similarly, if a rider (not me tho) wanna use racing plugs in his Pulsar, who r we to say he's overdoing it? Good or bad, it's his $ and bike. I wear a graphic full-face helmet, riding jacket with full CE armor, gloves with knuckle protectors and Kevlar-reinforced boots when riding my Pulsar. I pump Shell V-Power into 'him'. Think it's 'overkill' for a transport bike? Or that such things are only for big sportsbikes? Doesn't bother me a bit what others think abt that.

And nowhere in my post(s) did I mentioned that the CR9IEX can give more mileage. Or for that matter, that one plug is better than another .....

No hard feelings, ok? Just clarifying my views.

BTW now selling at universal one all 15 litres ah?? how sure?

Very sure.

Well, maybe Universal still has some stock of the older variant(s) lah. If u intend to get 1 of those bcos of the bigger tank capacity, bear in mind that they do not come with engine kill switch. They also have problems such as rough and jerky movement in 1st gear and tendency for gears to crash.
