Hi guys,

not sure if this is a correct thread to put this question. I have a scooter which was involved in an accident, in which insurance was claimed against me. This same scooter is currently COI by someone but insurance is under my name, he is sub as sub-rider. Insurance now is up for renewal, as there was accident claims so premium is now much higher. He is not ready to take over scooter but willing to carry on COI. So qn: is there anyway that he does not have to pay higher insurance renewal premium? I had heard that although the bike is in my name but insurance can be bought under the COI person's name and my name put as non-rider or sub-rider. Will this method mean that the insurance premium is calculated based on the COI person's records and not mine? Can someone advise me on this and other alternatives? Many thanks in advance :)

next time i sure want to drive a dirty rusty beat up old truck.. then paint on the tail-board.. I have claimed insurance on 99 tail-gaters. Are you the 100th? :cheeky:

if any bike is under investigation due to accident claims, the premium automatically goes up regardless of whether you're in the right or wrong.

Best is to call up NTUC... My guess is the sub-rider insurance will differ as owner is not riding...

Good luck...

my guess is bike's accident history is one of the factors for insurnace premiums..

No, the claims were already paid. More than a year ago thing. But is now want to renew insurance under me as main rider, the premium is much higher. But insurance is to be paid by COI person as agreed because only he is riding the bike, so I don't want him to pay more because of my accident. So can he buy insurance on my bike as main rider even though bike is under my ownership? And if can, will the premium be based on his own records and not mine? If cannot, can advise me on alternatives? Thanks :)
