u dont need to hv a speed detector to know what speed u r traveling. as long the car just follow u from behind at a constant distance, by looking at his own speedometer, he willl know what speed u r running, dude.

u can deny u r speeding then. well, convince the judge lor. see the judge believe u or the police.

dude, I have no doubt that the police in the patrol car can know or guess my speed by following behind me. We are all on the road long enough to know that. I'm saying that he cannot produce cold, hard evidence without the speed detector.

Anyway, that's no longer a useful debate since someone else already pointed out that normal patrol cars have such devices. I'm steering clear of them anyway.

oh.... btw u dont need a speed detector to know a vehicle has exceeded the 60kph limit when it is travelling at 100kph.

of course you don't. but the info on a speed detector will be helpful in helping the judge decide what to charge you for or the amount of fine to give you.

TP WRXs - they have speed detectors and all the gadgets for summon a speeding vehicle.

Police FRCs - Majority (not all) have speed detectors and GPS and some gadgets to summon a speeding vehicle.

Police staff vehicles - some of them are mounted with blinkers, some are not. they have 'blackbox' but if the policemen want to summon u, they still can do it by recording down ur no. plate and pass to the TP Dept.

Police unmarked vehicles - all are operational-ready. usually will use for raid ..

I believe they'll go at legal st limit say 60km/h and follow, if they can't pace you means you're speeding and they'll speed up, sirens w/lights go off and you're involved in a police chase ;) maybe its some other way but oh well..

Ps: some reply are posted w/out thinking and end up getting :gun:

thats where you are wrong bro, normal police patrol car have camera in their cars that can be used to check the speed you are on by viewing it thru a special room in the TP department, the camera can zoom in and out also.

and do you happen to know that normal police patrol cars are also sometimes equipped with speed detector equipment?

you can argue with police but if kenna those really wanna get you want, then thats it man,

hope that clears u up....:cheeky:

All patrol cars????

I believe the police are law enforcers, as long you break the law, you would have to be responsible for your own actions...irregardless whether they have this or that etc bla bla bla...

Just my 2 cents :D

When the first BMWs highway patrol came out with the single round blue blinkers/ sirens, it's like 10-15 yrs back. Dat time very stylo.

Singaporeans mah... do good, must complain, do bad must complain, don't do anything also must complain. Nothing can please them so I already stopped giving a d@mn about how these ppl think.

Anyway, my opinion is that if a normal police patrol car stopped me to say I am speeding, it will be easy to appeal cuz they don't have those speed detector, they can't say wat speed I was travelling at, that means no proof...

I'm not saying that they cannot stop me. I'm trying to say that it will be difficult for them to prove... They can't say whether I'm speeding between 0-10km/h, 10-20km/h, or about 50km/h simply because they don't have speed detector?

Well, I might be wrong. Correct me then. :thumb:

They just drive behind you at the same speed and look at their speedometer. Police do not need irrefutable proof that you are speeding. Their word is enough as far as the courts are concerned.
