Go to the first page of this thread and slowly read up. On whether you want to break-in hard or soft, it is entirely up to you. Read up and make your own judgement... :goodluck:

hey guys! i have read through the entire thread and found that there are some really knowledgable people here on bike stuffs. will need some of your help here and do offer me your best advice you can give ok. i have a few questions which i need some of your expertise to clear my doubts. in fact there are four questions:

1) how do you do a proper warming up of a bike?

2) how do you do a proper warming DOWN of a bike?

3) lastly, is there a real need to keep you bike upright when starting it? i have heard that its better as the EO will not be level within the bike and thus, do not provide enough lubrication to other parts during start up.

4) if there is a need to upright your bike on start up, then is it ok to put it back on side stand once started or need to wait awhile for the EO to run through the engine parts?

thanks for your inputs. i'll appreciate your help greatly!

Warm up engine for at least 2 minutes include the rise in temperature, firstly the engine oil is all at the reservoir due to gravity, so need to push the oil to lubricate all the parts before twisting the throttle. Secondly engine works well when it reach certain heat, when the engine is cold, all the parts are shrink & stress will be impose, and cold engine oil is not as good as when its hot.

Once the engine is hot, the parts are expanded & engine oil becomes better working condition.

Its just like waking up, we seldom wake up in the momrning & straight away run 5km or carry heavy weight, we will get dizzy & its no good for our body.

Try to warm up till ard 70°C. For big bike, the normal running temp is ard 80°C and abv. If you are impatient, warm up to ard 50°C and you can move off. But try not to whack the bike straight, slowly ride off and once reach 70° then resume as per normal.

I will wait till 60 degC & then kick in first gear to move off, rpm less than 3000 while moving.

It works fine for me.
