how's tuesday morning sound like?

 

 

Back in 2003 when I was still riding the 600, I rode from BKE to SLE on a peak hour after work. Crossed the double white line quickly towards my left to avoid the perilous sandwich when I saw no vehicles approaching. There was one TP BMW parked behind on the other side of the road.

 

Few days later, I received a letter from the traffic police and was informed of my offence. 4 points and $120 fine.

I was extremely pissed off. Went down to the TP HQ in Ubi and appealed. The station inspector insisted that it was my mistake despite me having illustrated the site, explained the scenario to the station inspector. I recalled saying, "You must ride a civilian motorcycle in civilian clothings during the peak hour at that place and you will know what am I talking about." After some heated arguments, I gave up. Obviously irritated by the incompetency of the station inspector, I told the TP just fine and deduct my points as she deemed fit. It was then she suddenly changed her mind to convert my penalty to $70 fine and no points deduction.

 

Some time later, I found that LTA shifted the double white line outwards and converted the link into 2 lanes to facilitate a smoother flow of traffic from BKE to SLE.

 

Imbeciles. I wonder how many people have succumbed to the folly of the TP on this issue with no resistance.

 

The bottomline is whether have you done anything wrong. If you are sure you have not done anything wrong or forced by circumstances to break the traffic law in order to preserve your life, you always have a good chance to right for the justice you're entitled for. At most write to the MP or the press. If you break the traffic laws for self preservation, there's plenty of room for negotiations. But if you are killed in order to uphold the traffic laws, nobody is going to commend you for your loyalty.
