Wads ur normal cruising temperature?? Mine is 78 degrees Celsius.. Depending on wad type if coolant u use.. If u use those normal green colour de.. Temp will rise up slower in a traffic jam but of coz will decrease at a slower pace when u move off.. If u r using coolant like maxima or engine ice, they will increase faster n also likewise decrease faster..

Im going to change spocket and chain, engine oil and oil filter tis sat. Can any bro recommend go racewerks or planet mtr better?

 

Racewerks pricing can be a bit ex in my opinion.. and norman very hard to ask for even a bit of discounts .. =(

 

Already spend 1k ++ plus at racewerks last mth.. i checked around seems other place a bit lesser...

 

SO need any advise frm bros here..

Planet Motors will be more affordable.. Ah Chong will give u slight discount if u do a lot of things.. Just tell him the red colour VTR recommend u there de.. Hahaha

Yup Racewerks is gd.. But if u r just doing this basic maintainence like oil change n chain n u are looking for somewhere affordable n honest.. Planet is ok.. But if u need engine repairs or modification of coz Racewerks got my nod..

Just changed my chain n sprockets.. Using original HONDA sprockets with DID chain.. Costs me 280.. change engine oil too another $69.... Maxima 5w 50

hmm i wonder u guys know any of these problem... when u ride but when ur RPM hit about 2k ~ 2.5k PM. u can feel the bike damn jerky and something below ur engine got tuck tuck sound. izzit problem cause from clutches housing? cluthes plate change before wonder izzit have to change the housing to prevent this irrating problem?

Your rpm might be too low at your speed and for the gear selected, maybe that's why you have chainslap. I usually do not ride my SP1 below 4000rpm, that is, I accelerate to 4000 - 5000rpm in 1st gear, then keep it around that in S'pore usage. I usually don't upshift to 6th gear till I have hit 120kph. We can't use our V-twin like an in-line4 at low speeds.

 

But if you still have the tucking or clicking sound, it might mean be that your chain is hitting the swingarm. Firstly, check that the black plastic chainguard at the front of the swingarm is not broken. Then check below your top chain, or top part of your bottom chain, whether there are shiny surfaces on each chainlink. If there are, then here's your tuck-tuck sound. Then, check that your chain is correctly tensioned. Cheers.

Hahaha, V-twin hot right? A Ducati is hotter - from an owner who had SP1, SP2 and Ducatis. Welcome to the SP1 club Wen. How's the sale of your sidestand. I am the one who took delivery of one from you at a corner traffic light near Bugis Junction.

 

The radiator fan does not switch on till about 98degC - 102degC. You have to shutoff your engine when it hit 115degC(all these are in the owner's manual). My SP1 fan switches on when at 102degC(just feel the wind with your left hand at the left radiator). An SP1 has only 1 fan on the left radiator. An SP2, and maybe some late SP1 has a fan each on the left and right radiator. I wonder whether any SP1 has modified to 2 fans - I thought of, but KIVed it.

 

In tight city traffic, Chinatown lanes for example, mine goes to 104degC, then to 98degC when the fan comes in. Morning 8am fast rides to Mersing is about 74degC at fast speeds. Coming back at noon might be 94degC at the same speed.

 

I have ever hit 115degC during a Phuket trip. Stopped the bike and found that the fan motor switch fuse has blown. Just change the fuse inside the fusebox located inside the left lower fairing just behind the coolant tank. I always keep a full set of tools and fuses when I go out of S'pore for rides.

 

After saying so much, yes, hot is normal, and it is hotter than your Suzuki GSXRR.

Hmm tats weird.. i changed mine at Planet too a few days after you.

 

But my Maxima engine oil costs me $80++ and my Honda original spocket and Chain costs me $230..

ya is the very first V-twin sport bike frm Honda.... Frm my nick u may hv guessed it, is a FireStorm.

My reg in 1997, been owing it for abt 11yrs. Milage was clocked at 18kkm when i lay my hands on her.

Aft 11yrs, i merely clock another 12kkm on her, most of it r frm my earlier track days if not most of the

time she is parked.... Yeah wat a waste rite... Cant imagine SP1 & 2 in term of the power & handling

since Firestorm pretty ok liao, btw she is not actually a pure breed sport bike, is a sport tourer actually.
