Backside itchy, got myself a gsxr400rrp today from a private seller. Engine condition ok, bike starts easily and comes with fairly new BT020 tire. On my way back the bike stalled because the idling was set too low.

 

The rear shock was changed, from CBR400 I think, the tailboard is higher maybe due to the longer rear shock or shorter dog bone, have not verified yet. Rear fender was removed and replaced by chain guard, the shock feels very hard and there is a squeaky sound when the shock is compressed. The exhaust is modified to high mount to fit the raise tailboard.

 

Other problem found

1. Right side mirror crack (Get from LAB)

2. choke cable missing (Get from KS)

3. difficult to shift neutral (Change engine oil)

4. front brake disc very thin (See if there is any second hand available)

5. brake dont work very well (Change brake pads and bleed the brake)

6. brake lights not working (Maybe the wrong bulb was use)

7. valve cover has slight oil leak (Change valve cover gasket)

8. paintwork has scratches (May sent to shop for respray)

9. rider seat cushion is separted (See if there is any 2nd hand one)

10. fork got some oil stain but no leak. (Change fork oil and seal)

11. Chain is non o-ring type (Install chain oiler)

i am beginning to think u buy bike to repair them up, cos so far the bikes you buy got to do alot of work.

Yap... u can say so lah. I tried 190km/h for few time than it drop to 180km/h then 170km/h. Then i damn sian.... Backside itchy, I got myself another set of 4 piston n upsize it to 1 size bigger than stock. Once done, Anyone wans to have a friendly test?

Hehehe...I'm on, the g4 got pretty good tires, and I can clear carbon also, but need to settle the suspension and fork first.

THEN my bike really need too.Giving me problem afat a few mth.My cdi spoilt nw,front fork leak oil.Don't know stil got other problems anot? Really need big service!!!When u all got D.I.Y?Can I join? Or recommend me some gd bike shop to service in the east. Do anyone know where to get a new CDI?got warranty?

Tough luck for u. Prepare at least 500 for the CDI and forks.$400 for CDI and btw 80 to 100 for forks.

 

Try GUan Hoe around Eunos Mrt. More expensive but service and experience assured. Ask Kata if u wanna enq on Planet Motor's experience. They are also well recommended by many. They are in Ubi.

 

Let us know on what happen to ur bike so that we can learn from it too.

tell mr han @ guan hoe that u boh3 lui1..dress the part hor..dun wear until super nice/posh n saw u no money... he got alot of old parts @ discounted price...

 

front fork servicing..can try datsunking's father's shop...joo chiat there..pm him for address...fork servicing 80 bucks for both sides..pretty good deal

CDI sometimes can repair... Can try repair 1st b4 buying a new 1... $400+ for a CDI is really ex....

Thanks for the suggestion.I sent my cdi for repair at New Tech motor eunos ave3. I get his hp no frm the forum tat he know how to repair cdi. The guy say my cdi beyond repair. He charged me $400+ for cdi,$80 for jap dry cell batt.$60 for tuning n servicing.Is this price he quoted OK?

 

Or i get Guan Hoe to do it, wil b cheap n reliable?

I think the battery is overcharge, you can get from KS at $55. Carb wash and balance at Guan Hoe is about $35.

If the bike is running ok, no need to clean and tune carb. But I normally clean it once a year or half a year if the fuel tank is very rusty.

 

Symptoms are poor mileage or bike runs poorly.

The gsxr400 servicing charge is comaprable to my gsxr750.

 

3.2L of engine oil + oil filter change. The oil filter is exactly the same on my 750 which cost $12 each. Brake pads must change both side.

I'm bias.

Guan Hoe is the only one on my list for engine/carbs related servicing.

Tell them u are recommended by a group of Bandit riders, I think they should know our existance by now.

 

But do take note that their parts can be more costly than other shops.

I only go Guan Hoe twice check valve clearance for my gsxr750 and replacing the clutch sleeve hub on my bandit400, so far no problem.
