To carry on my shared experience with pitching my humble Street Triple against million dollar supercars, this is the latest experience.

Off to work long before the sun is up, I was trundling along at my usual off peak hour pace:shades: along a three lane stretch of a noramally two lane highway ( not expressway ).

To my surprise a yellow supercar filtered onto the main road and was travelling at about 60km, so naturally I blasted past it.

I noticed the unique exhausts at the back of it and now know that it was a Ferrari 458, never seen one before. Anyway, the driver obviously wasn't having it and decided to give chase ( as you would if your million dollar V8 motor had been left behind by an inferior 675cc 18k motor bike.)

The road we were on is a quite twisty dual lane and there was traffic about, which demotes all cars to the dreaded single file shuffle , all of them, losers. In and out without indicating to gain one place at the lights.

Any way, the chase was very spirited and adrenelin was pumping, the car was constantly getting stuck behind cars,, as you do.

So I was off, laughing my tits off at this.

Anyway my turn off came and I took it, could see the lights of the 458 approaching but , hey its now bus stops and lights, so my way to work was turn off left with a pedestrian crossing half way round.

I had to slow due to traffic in my left lane, but Mr Ferrari went straight on and out braked me up to the lights.

Good god that thing sounded sexy, I was imagining what the driver looked like , with images of a stealth , drop down dead sultry tigeress driving. Infact it was probably a small bald fat bloke, but hey . I like to dream.

Bike v Car in Singapore.......no contest. Get in lane sucker!!!

no basis for comparison, i would say.

but only a foolish driver would attempt to go up against a bike in Singapore's crowded urban roads.

but the quickest would be a 90cc scooter anyhow.

ride safe all

What a great Saturday morning read. I'm still chortling away to myself, mainly cos it rings so true! Good stuff Crazytown, especially the bit about the bald fat bloke :) Meanwhile I'm sat here with a broken finger in a splint dolefully looking at bikes that I can't ride for a month :(

How did you break your finger ?

American colleague of mine likes to chuck around an American football whenever in town........apparently I'm the fifth or sixth broken finger as a result of a poor catch.. Note to self: stick with the British version.....

Hey there Jastin , hell yeah! surprisingly there's way more storage under the seat then a drz and most modern sport bikes

heres what i can fit under the seat in one go:

1 raincoat pants ,

2 $1poncho ,

3 packs of wet wipes ,

1 tiny tool kit ,

1 digital tire pressure gauge ,

1 bike alarm ,

1 a combination style cable lock

1 and some season parkin coupons!

oh and u can make a small mod using a carabiner and some steel cable to lock a spare helmet safely while on the move or parked

Just read a group test in the October issue of Fast Bikes, of the Street Triple R, GSR750 Suzuki , Z750 Kwak, FZ8 Yam.

The Street came out on top, here is a quote from Simon Roots ( one of the testers ) and why he rated the bike 10 / 10.

" It shouldn't come as a surprise that crossing a Speed Triple with a Daytona 675 is an absolute result, but it's still an astounding bike to ride, be it your first or your 50th. For me, it's in the top three bikes you can buy, and if this magazine lark ended tomorrow I'ld gladly give Triumph 7, 549 pounds ( the cost of the bike in the UK from new is about $SG15,000 ) for the pleasure of owning one. I wouldn't even haggle and would actually round it up to 7600 and leave a tip. It combines refinement with an ability to do all the legal stuff with aplomp, but let it off the leash and its simply the best stunter you can buy. It does things you never thought you could do, the only problem being inevitably getting carried away."

I've had my Street R for almost 2 years now and can't think of a better bike to use everyday for throwing about the crowded roads of Singapore. Over the last 30 years I have been riding bikes I have owned all sorts, but this one is the best.

It's just going to break my heart when I have to let it go.

Cheers mate.

Been waiting for this.

Will be interesting regarding the local residents in the immediate area, guess we won't be doing burn outs in the bar at midnight. At least there will be camping across the road.

Hi R.A.T.S,

1 of my customer ordered the 2011 speed triple and was told to wait couple of months for it as he wanted a certain colour, he didnt mind waiting as his job requires him to work overseas, while waiting, he decided to pre order a full set of R&G Racing protection kit for his new baby, it arrived and he duly paid for it, however after waiting for his bike arrival, the shipment that arrive did not have his choice of colour, upset he decided to cancel the order, Now he is asking me in assisting him in selling off the items, he is willing to sell it at a 20% off what he paid for.. PM me if any of you guys are keen.. cheers
