Bro tiku..saw ur old post..i think my problem since last time i've been asking is the clutch housing...u also having the same issue previously rite?..went to um....and the mech says its the clutch housing issue....heard damage is around 300 to 400 bucks....

My other mech says the sound is common for old s4 bike....mine is 8yrs bike, mileage at 84K...he says confirm after changeout...still got the sound again after few months....

Anyone can verify how true is it?...if true then sian ah got to live with it very day....very irritating and paiseh cos pple are looking and staring at u...:sian:

What u're referring to is the sound from the clutch housing.....quite normal for S4. Even u change a new housing, after a while the sound will appear. :cheeky:

pai sae to brin up tis old thread. I would lk 2 noe more abt cluth since there are no other thread liao.

When i brought my spec 1 , i had knew the cluth wasn't at the tip top condition but was unsure wat the actual problem was. When bike is in neutal, cluth out, there is a "thru thru" sound. But when i cluth in fully the sound is gone.

I was bothered by the sound but it does nt affect ani of my performance. Until half a yr the cluth plate was worn out. There is sound "tak tak" sumtimes when in 1st or 2nd gear.

I went to change my cluth plate, gasket & cluth cable. The "tak tak" sound was gone but still gt the "thru thru" sound.

I guess it is the cluth housing. I realise my cluth housing is slightly loose. Do ani1 experience the same tink?

Issit true that most super 4 will hav housing problem. I heard even changing the housing the problem will come back after some time. Hw true? Aniwae the cluth housing is pretty costly $220.

need help

The previous owner of my bike changed clutch casing and springs costs 300+ without changing the clutch plates.

wat do u mean by this irritating sound?mine have like knocking sound, but clutch in no more liao.. but after 5 min ride , it goes off.. but it will come again everything if engine is cold.. so do u mean like mine?

oh. same as mine. mine at times got knocking sound also. check with a few mechs, they say is common for bike reaching 10 years old. its actually clutch housing problem. usually after warm up or ride for some time will gone. anyway, try use agip EO. i using that right now and it didn't have that knocking sound already.

don't worry bro. is because when our bike is parked for quite some time, the eo will sink to the bottom of the engine. when start, the engine need to pump up the eo thus having this sound. after warm up will be okie.

above information is i heard from my mech. don't bomb me if i'm wrong.

recently when my bike cold starts in the morning..there's this tack tack tack sound as though the clutch is clashing or sth.. :(((( but once i rev a bit move off, it stops.. -_- disheartening man.what could be the problem. pm me :D

@outspoken: Never did change my clutch housing after hearing its $300+.. I heard alot of old S4 facing this problem lah.. wun affect the bike other than that super embarrassing sound it produces..

FYI $300+ i think is juz clutch housing alone.. imagine u found out clutch plates have to change also.. should be $500+ liao

I heard some pple says if never change will slowly affect the clutch plate..i mean the clutch plate will wear off more easily..dun know how true is this theory..

From what I was told how to check whether clutch plates worn out or not, stationary put into gear 1. Then half clutch. If the bike moves forward smoothly, your clutch plates still ok. But if it is not moving, or sometimes want to move, sometimes dont want, it means ur clutch plates worn already.

Then to check clutch housing, when every morning you start your bike, clutch in. If got "stone jumping" sound, meaning need to change but not that important. Can leave it for quite some time.

Above info all my trusted mech told me.

Bro the clutch housing selling at agent is already $230..original brand new..so if ur quoted $100+ for the housing then its either not brand new or the bike shop just anyhow quote u.....i think u better reconfirm the price again..btw care to tell which bike shop?....

most bike shop quote around $300+ just for the clutch housing..already went to 3 different bike shop and all dun want to give the exact amount only quoting around the same price range...interesting to find out if really that bike shop charge at what u said...
