MSN hotmail account hacked

hi guys

i tried logging in to my hotmail account via MSN Live messenger having just formatted my computer + install the MSN messenger program.

realised that i keep getting a user login or password error.

 

im pretty sure that both are correct (since i login to the account everyday via my office laptop).

in fact, i had just logged on only this morning.

 

attempts to reset the password via the hotmail website failed since the secret password retrieval question has been changed to some crappy chinese question (i think by the hacker).

 

any possible solutions to this?

if you dun have the password to the secret question then im pretty sure you cant get back your account. If im not wrong, some sites do not allow changing of secret question or answer, you might want to try your old secret answer.

 

I think your best bet would be waiting for your account to expire (if you still want the exact same address) then register it before anyone else does. So, maybe jot down the date that you lost your account and make a reminder..

Apart from any errors faced from Hotmail, I think it's because you're the target of phishing. You know, where you visit a website that claims they can do neat stuff to your MSN contacts (citing an example):

 

"Try us, it's fun, enter your MSN address and password to see all your friends listed, invite your friends over blah blah, the cool things that we can do with your MSN, etc..."

 

Don, do correct me if I'm wrong? If I was, then it's just an inherent problem (see here)

 

 

P.S.: Whenever my friends send me these kinds of invitations via e-mail, I usually don't participate or try. Pretty crafty web b*stards indeed

im also at a loss at when my password was taken.

didnt accept any invitations nor joined anything new.

be careful when joining sites. those face books or imeem etc. Every now and then will send email to us telling us " your friend ***** wants to add you to **** website" . I'd like to reply: "STFU" but too bad its a 'computer generated mail'. Careful about going to lanshops etc. Clear your cache and do spyware scans. Thats what I normally tell other lost-souls. Email Hotmail or MSN with a different account and request for help.

 

I've a friend who got his "hacked" but till now I'm not sure if it was his gf who changed it

What are the contents of your e-mail?

It looks like the Hotmail inbox at the receiver's side has rejected your e-mail.

sometimes with attachments.

but the problem is not juz only a few of them rejected... its ALL of my fren's hotmail account rejected my mail.

Well, if I were you and if I really want to have then sent, check these:

 

1) Is your e-mail subject based on something that a content filter may just simply stop it from going through? Examples:

a) "Come see this!"

b) "You might be interested in this."

c) S*x, f**k...

d) Hi user, please read this e-mail.

 

2) Your e-mail content: just like the abovementioned examples, do you think it contains sentences that sounds like what a spammer would use?

 

3) If you've verified that the above 2 has been checked and your e-mail seems clean to you, maybe it's the pictures.

 

I also see this in your bounced-back e-mail report:

 

554 5.0.0 Service unavailable

 

Try sending another kind of e-mail just to test to see whether the fault doesn't lie on your system, or that the fault is not because of your message...

A few years back my hotmail account was hacked by someone from libya/lebanon (don't remember which), he even messaged my friends over MSN...couldn't retrieve my account so had to suck thumb and change hotmail address...

my eBay account got hacked once... (the f@cker put up a $50,000 excavator, of all things) but luckily this was detected by eBay, who then suspended my account while i clarify my identity

What you would need to do is to be more specific in your problems by filling up the textbox.
