No problem. I'm sure Sniper don't mind too. Did you forget to ask for a quote?

Ken, if you manage to find one like that, pls order/make another bracket for me, we can go fix it together.

I might know one who can fabricate the bracket

I thought the reserve tank comes on when there's 3.5 litres of petrol left, like the 954. After my mileage calculations came out all wrong, I finally figured out it's actually 4 litres of reserve fuel.

I don't think this is written on the manual.

Any RR4 owners here care to comment?

On V Power, I hit 200 km before reserve comes on.

Using Esso F1, I get 220 km before reserve comes on.

I have a pillion every day, maybe that explains the low mileage compared to the 954.

What about you Ken?

Posted

there's few times when my reserve lights went on and i straight away go pump it up and i find out that i can only squeez in 13L.

since our tank is 18L, the light actually went up with 5L reserve.

so far most of the time i m still varying through the rpm n gears n not going to 5th or 6th gears often. never really go calculate but there's once i pumped 10L of petrol to full tank with 180km clocked. so its around 18km/L for now.

and i think the 954 got this fucntion of calculating the amount of fuel used for a certain milleage rite tashi? does our bike have this function?

dun think i saw it anywhere in the manual.

To review a bit about this bike:

Redline it in the 1st gear and it sounds like a super smooth RVF engine being redline too.

Wont feel tired riding it cos the power delivery is so linear that even when i redline it, i dun feel the tortiness.

just so smooth. think its good for everyday usage.

windscreen seems low, but its working well.

normal riding temperature : 77 - 83

Engine sound : its of low tone type. gf says when far coming, sounds like a sport car is coming.( didnt noe is it a compliment not..)

Heat feedback from rider : i noe the bike is hot. but i cant feel it much. even while stuck in jams, maybe its like what tashi suggest becos of a rubber like padding at the area which causes heat rashes on his previous 954.

my 954 friend thinking of installing it on his 954 when there's stock for it.

Pillion review : never feel the heat unless bike stuck in jams with temperature over 100. n is feel got hot air coming out from the right side which is their ankle region. so better dun wear slippers ladies. but if wear sport shoes, feel nothing at all.

while corner or bend : u want the line, u got it. ample confidence inflicted on u.( not that i'm a corner freak, but its the first time i m able to corner a tyre fully, and its without my notice. tot i was only cornering as low as on the rvf( but was never able to used up the tyre fully), but when i parked n take a look at where i had cornered, its full. no wonder the footpeg stugs is so long. )

Flickability : i tried doing a few quick swerving from left lane to right lane on the road at 140km/h, and it seems that i need to exert more force or use a bit of body weight to be able to ziczac fast. need some small technique for it. well, seems like its never perfect, as for the stability gained, it trades off its flickability.

but on low speed when the HESD didnt come in, it is very easy to manuevulate, like a 600cc.

no trouble squeezing between cars during jams.

there's a few times i kicked on the neutral, do u have this problems? tashi?

madmax, u?

I dunno why it's not mentioned in the manual, but I finally found the reserve figure on the US Honda site, after conversion to litres, it's 4 L.

What petrol did you pump?

Somehow, on V Power, it feels good, so I tend to rev it a bit more than normal.

Are you still on mineral or syn?

The 954 does have the mileage indicator, not on the RR4.

It's the plastic tank cover that doesn't conduct much of the heat through the thighs.

Kicked on neutral? Don't have this problem.

on page 12 of the manual indicates that the reserve light will lights up when fuel tank had left around 3.5L of petrol.

but mine always light up when there's 5L left...

not worried on this issue, as it gives me more time to find a petrol kiosk.

i so far only pump 98, V-Power n the petronas.

didnt really monitor the milleage as i m still reving hard.

around 18km/L so far. ( approximately )

change to semi syth on 1000km.

will change to full synth on 2000km.

think is when oil change first few times the engine oil put too much liao.

After i change at sporting, the kicked neutral problem goes off.

first few oil change at other shop the mech think pour in 3.4L of engine oil like that.

and sporting very good leh, when changing oil filter plus oil change too the engine oil poured in is 3.1L rite?

at sporting, they only charge the 3L money and top up the 100ml free. not like other bike shop...

and i m using the K&N oil filter at $18.

seen my friend 954 IU is facing the sky.

install in between the left fork n ignition switch.

but the bracket doesn't look strong enough as it is like relying on a screw to hold the bracket and IU to 1 of the screws around there.

and 1 screw to hold the IU to the bracket...

although he is having no problems with it,

but guess we got to buy those super strong double sided tape

or strong glue... got to find some ways to secure it more.

but we have a problem now as our hydralic clutch fluid might comes in the way.

will estimate it with my IU tml see how.

will update u on the bracket.

eh, bth, wanna give 95 a try?

maybe can give more milleage.

my friend commented that when he change from 95 to 98, he dun feel any difference leh.

he's riding a rvf.

just find out that our 2nd set of valves open at 5500 rpm.

1st set should be at 2500 rpm or 3500 rpm.

our ram air system is divided into main and sub air duct.

Cold air intake for the CBR1000RR is controlled by a two-stage system, which includes the main ram-air duct located below the bottom triple clamp and above the new large-capacity radiator, plus a smaller dual-intake sub-duct system.

At low engine speeds, air flows into the sub-duct system through two doors, one located on each side of the larger intake tract.

At higher engine speeds, a vacuum-operated system closes the doors to the sub-duct system while simultaneously opening a door to the main ram-air duct, thereby creating a high-pressure flow of cold, dense air for a dramatic increase in midrange and high-speed power.

Our ECU total controlled the ram air system, HESD and the exhuast valve.

The ability to open the throttle earlier when exiting a corner. That advantage is directly attributable to Honda's new Unit Pro-Link rear suspension, as used on the RC211V.

Are you sure? Even on my 954, getting 17km/l is not easy. Plus you're riding hard ...

I think there's something wrong with your calculation ...

er.............. maybe is becos i was opening and closing.

while closing the bike is still on the move but fuel is cut thus reaching destination with lesser fuel used?

i only based on a time when i pumped 10L with 180km clocked.

could it be the petronas? hehehe.

i will start to monitor again.

79, it's not about the price of petrol.

Every one of my machines, I always make it a point to know it well. :thumb:

I always experiment with different petrols to see which one gives me better performance or mileage. That's why I don't like to mix petrols. That way, when I use one petrol, I can try it out to it's full effect. :bouncefire:

Knowing how much reserve I have allows me to reasonably drain the whole tank and put in different petrols ... without having to push the bike later.

On my 954, my calculations were quite accurate, once it ran out of petrol when I was just less than a km away from Shell. I had to push the bike for sure, luckily I wasn't 10km away from Shell.

You can't imgaine how happy I was to feed it with 100% pure V Power. :cheer:

Let's say I've figured out this particular petrol consistently takes me 240km before it hits reserve, but one fine day, it's only giving me 200km. It's a good indicator that something is wrong and it's probably a good time to send the bike for check-up. It could be anything from tire pressure, leakage, alignment, plugs or whatever ...

This knowledge is power ... to me anyway ...

Cheers.
