U taking brand new or 2nd hand ? If it's brand new, advisable it's an agent bike.Any problem it will be covered by BS.The combo thing i'm talking about is the coil & flywheel changed 2gether as a set.

Check the milage of ur bike ur taking over.FRom the magnetic coil cover u can know wheather the coil had been replaced or otherwise.Anytime when when u start the bike & it feels weak, check ur voltage. Most probably it's the coil but it can be the batt or rectifier also.Gd Luck.

Advisable to have a volt meter.Did u managed to ask him what's the milage when he last changed it ? At least u can estimate ur milage now after the last changed.U bought from shop or owner ? If from shop at least make them issue a warranty for u.Cheers

I think Baba San will vomit blood if he hears of the coil issue.

Sorry, I just got into this forum but can i know if this coil issue the same with Blades in other countries? Could our ambient temperature have caused the coil to burn?

:p

i doubt anything to do with the milage .. not sure though ..

mine is very very low milage .. 2yr++ 18k only but coil changed twice..

personally, the volt meter did helped me a little .. gave me some tell tale signs before i totally couldnt start the bike .. had to push start

had alwis wanted to sell but after changing coils, i couldnt bear to part with this bike again ... i practically love everything about this bike except the constant phobia when starting the engine ..

Wow, the combo of flywheel and magnetic coil fail. This combo causes fellow bladers over SGD800 plus and yet it is not working and at less than 5000km millege some more. I can have a mental vision of our guys who change the combo to be fearful of this now.

Our resident coil changer Mr LD at record 5 coil changes if I remember clearly will be in the best position to tell us how to identify when your coil is going to burn. For me, weak cranking is a definate sign of the things to come.

Ya I think this is an universal problem for all bladers worldwide.

Tashi, still thinking of changing to 08 model now?

Looking at Saufi's mileage, his 40k beats my 36k or 38k. We have a new winner. I wrote to BS and Honda Japan again yesterday. Let's see what they come back with.

It is good the Bladers are open about the coil issues so others can be aware.

The warranty on my 06 Blade ends this month. This weekend I will go for a physical coil inspection. It has been 7,000km since my 1st coil change from last year's MotoGP trip. This CNY, I will probably travel around 1,800km. I will be playing at the twisties at Berjaya Hills and Cameron Highlands. Woohoo!

Beagle, better come with me to do your battery this Saturday as well, otherwise next time no kaki.

Ronald, if I am still working in SG next year, I will get the 08 model for sure.

I have contacts with some US Bladers as well, they have the same issue.

Cool! The coil is back to haunt us. I was really starting to think Honda really solved the issue. It's been 5months since I changed the combo I think, quite a record considering I have changed 5x coil already.

Those who still haven't got urself a voltmeter, my advise is to go get 1 now.

Just wondering. The voltmeter will tell us that the battery will be flat soon, but it will not stop the coil from frying. Am i right?

It can get stressful worrying every night if the bike will start the next morning. Has BS given an explaination why the coil keeps getting fried?

:p

Hi Diesel

Heard a lot of fried coil problem for Model Year 04 and 05, only 2 guys for Model Year 06, JB and Tashi who both have 1 fried coil.

Hi Tashi

I think I will wait and see how, went to look at weekend cars, some of it are costing only SGD15k to SGD19k OTR, so bloody cheap.

My coil & flywheel was sent back to Japan for investigation, they couldn't find anything wrong. That means Honda doesn't know what the problem is. If Honda doesn't know, BS won't know.

This is unlike Onda. They are renowed for reliability and build quality.

The only problem i read was the 929 if i am not mistaken. Something to do with the clutch basket. Other than that the other CBR models were flawless.

I bet Baba will not be too pleased either. Hope it will be solved soon.

:p
