Today I met a friend who just bought a Magna same year as mine; 1994 but the American version, mine is the japaneese version. I didnt get the chance to ride it, but I noticed some differences and was told something that I want to be sure of.

First the Motor Model on mine is rc35 while the other is rc45!!

Second My speedometer is in km/h the other is m/h and top speed is extremely different, mine stop at 180 km/h and his max is at 240 km/h.

Third louder stock pipes

I was told that mine is restricted to 180km/h is that true!!? if yes can I do anything to disable this limitation? is there a difference in power? torque? ar any other thing?

Thanks

Hi hi...Rasmy...Sad but true, that's what METALLICA said, and there are a lot of difference in USA and other countries specs...Example, i had 2x royalstar yamaha 1300cc cruisers...The 1st one was a japanese version and there were speed restrictions and the standard pipes was very quiet...Then i sold it off and got another one but it was the american version from a very rich man who didn't even ride that much but bought it out of interest...Both bikes were produced in the same year 1996/97...But the american version didn't have any speed restrictions and the stock pipes were louder...It's all because of the different government requirements that's all, i think so but that's what most bike dealers here in Singapore would answer me if i asked them about the differences...

As for your Magna, i'm not an expert but try this coz most experienced riders advised me before, you try to change the air-filters maybe get K&N...See how your Magna reacts to it...Then change the pipes, maybe to after-market pipes that is compatible to your Magna, example - Vince&Hines, Cobra, or something...It might give your Magna an additional power and torque at the same time, louder sound to your pipes...But do ask around especially look up in the internet from Magna riders worldwide...Good luck to you and your Magna....Cheers...

Definitely there is a different between, California spec. to 49 State spec. to Japan spec. This is to meet the smog law in each country. Example for motorcycles (49-State) is made with smog equipment that meets federal emission standards, but not California standards. So to say, it is to meet each different country emission requirements and/or federal motorcycle safety standards. For Japan, the motorcycles have horse power restriction that goes with the engine capacity regulation. Perhaps you could try to purchase power restricted gadget to break the restriction for Magna.

I hope this address your query.

Cheers!
