hi guys, intending to buy HnB Journey Recon tc42 for installation on my spec1. do you guys know where i can get the rack or baseplate or things like that?

been riding for years, but never had a box installed, so kinda new to this. i was thinking to mount on givi rack and get a universal base plate, would that work?

look forward to your kind reply!

I installed journey 40l for my spec 1 before.. got the fz6 rack frm mtech n mod it in seng kwang.. Alternatively u can mod the rack at ah ann in kakibukit.. need to google e address..

There is no hnb rack for s4 so must mod. Fyi hnb racks are universal for all panniers iirc..

Try not to touch ur exhaust position to accommodate the rack but mod it in a way that wont interfere with exhaust..

Semgkwang lowered my exhaust to make it flushed with pillion seat but its up to u.

U can try ur luck to get them 2nd hand frm sbf btw.. if everything 1st hand then expect abt 1.1k. Panniers are abt 700 a pair, rack abt 280-300.. modification will be another 100..

I managed to get everything 2nd hand so spent abt 800plus.. hnb junior is super durable compared to xplorer so 2nd hand is ok.. maybe jus replace e rubber seal and lock..

As mentioned I did it at sengkwang, amk autobay.. its pricey but workmanship is gd.. I heard ah ann at kakibukit is gd too, nv try though..

As for garage sale, u jus be patient and search hepco everyday.. u shld be able to find some now and then if its nt urgent...

Hi guys, what are the available squarish type top boxes (h&b, trax, etc) and how do they compare?

Anyone know where I can get a better system to secure the GIVI top box? That one solitary screw on each side supported by 2 flimsy looking metal plate doesn't give me the confidence it is going to last more than 2 years...

I'm using it. It doesn't fit as well due to the HR4 rack... so it has to use the extension plate... its a great box but without a better rack i might give it up after 2 years of usage... but having said that... it has already travel up north and going beyond 110kmh isn't an issue :p

nice :) your rack is customised? made where bro?

For cb400 (mine's a spec 3) if u intent to fit panniers ( H&B);

u will need to custom ur top case rack. In my case its wif SKMIC.

Forgot d pricing of the top case rack.

In my case right now top case is Givi maxia 3-55 litres

TC rack is done wif SK.

Panniers + rack both right + left is from H&B bought from m-teknic

Needs to fabricate panniers rack brackets + re-inforce for strength.

And pls do note for panniers- u really need to fabricate ur TOP CASE rack. If ur using TC HR4 rack or coocase rack or any other makes rack for that matter; u cant make the 'panniers plan' works..

exhaust needs to be lowered to accomodate the right hand side pannier rack like bro blurcock says above 📤

SK does it for $50 members price since last time wen im riding a RD07A- i fabricated a 'big foot' + front headlight rack with them..

As for the fitment + reinforcement of the whole panniers rack;

SK charged me $330 in total.. its $280 + $50..

Dats d price for panniers fitments only not including panniers xplorer + racks + top case rack + base plate for TC..

Both ah ann + william SK is masters in this particular trade..

U can choose which workshop u wanna go ahead wif this project..

And one more thing. Ah ann bike fabricator has relocate again..

nw no longer @ First east Centre.

Nw @ building beside kaki bukit auotobay level 05..

unit number i dunno. Haha..

Sorry for the elaborated posts bros..

Super good information bro :) give me alot of ideas... thinking of getting the H&B set for top box and panniers... one top box want go long distance... a little cannot make it. with the panniers at least more chance... and if customised also easiler to find if bike is "borrowed"... :)

Is anyone using SHAD 48L box and experience cracks in their base plate? I wonder if there are any more secure (or more mounting point) racks that is available in the market? Because every single time my bike goes over bumpy road (most of the time), the box shakes like no tomorrow like it's going to break off from the rack
