Just to check with you guys who are currently using steel braided brake hose. Does the hose joint burst after using it for a long time? Currently the stock rubber brake hose does expands when braking.

Hi,

actually, the stock rubber hose does have a lifespan. The rubber can (and will) degrade over time. Its normal (wear & tear).

If it expands whilst under braking operations, then it means that the hose does not efficiently transfer the force to the (brake) calipers below. It is then time to change.

Just my $0.02

guys any place to recommend with good workmanship for brake calipers servicing? change of oring, fluid and cleaning of brake piston.

TIA.

The brake system is a system that relies on principle that liquid is incompressible and air is compressible. When you press the brake lever,it causes increased pressure on the brake fluid. This increased pressure causes the piston(round circular block) to press against the brake pads which in turns presses against the rotors to cause friction which slows the bike down.

Bro,a pair of o-rings for one side of caliper is SGD18 at Everfit(Rowell Road-->Honda motorparts stockist) ,1 x piston about $30-$40 depends front or back. You can also get it at FJT(Also at Rowell road but not sure of pricing). Can google everfit and FJT on this forum.

I can service for you provided you get all the parts..The front one got makan?

Will dismantle the calipers for you, wash the calipers with detergent and petrol, flush out the old brake fluid, change the o rings, change the pistons and refill the brake fluid, bleeding and post testing the brake+sharing critical tips how the brakes work and simple DIY to maintain the brake system.

Actually a moderate difficulty task to do,except that you would need gloves,as the brake dirt stucks quite deeply to your hands. The brake dust also tends to jam up the pistons causing increased friction between pistons and o-ring.You will need a fair amount of patience as well as most of the times the brake caliper screws are jammed as well.Need a fair amount of torque to open them up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SGD 40(For both front calipers) for front brake and SGD 35(For one rear brake) for rear brake

Service both calipers(Will dismantle the calipers for you, wash the calipers with detergent and petrol, flush out the old brake fluid, change the o rings, change the pistons and refill the brake fluid,bleeding)-->$70

Change pistons only or O-rings(ownself supplied O-rings and pistons)-->$20

Bleeding both front and back with (ownself supplied DOT3/DOT4 brake fluid)-->$15

Bleeding both front and back with supplied DOT3/DOT4 brake fluid-->$25

Dismantle and Diagnose brake problems-->$5

Normally shops will charge about SGD50 for servicing one caliper

1 caliper servicing time about 1 hour(Jammed piston will take a while to dislodge as I use those foot pumps to pump it out through the brake line hole)

Can beep me/sms/whatsapp me at 9189 4548 hafiz to fix up a date

Need some advice on anyone who DIY brake caliper B4.

I DIY my front brake caliper by cleaning the gunk and dirt dats around the brake piston. Previously only the right caliper was gripping. After ride I would touch the disc brake and the right side is always cold and the left side is hot or warm to touch. I notice my brake reservoir was near empty too. So i did some research on doing maintenance on brake calipers on DIY. I removed the all the hard crust dirt build up ard the pistons with soap and water. And I notice when I press e brake levers they are not evenly pushing forward. And pushing back the piston is damn hard compared to all the vids I see on DIY cleaning the piston. I had to open up the nipple bleeder just to push back the piston and let all the brake fluid out. I did the same on the other side. After cleaning an putting back the brake calipers. I top up the brake reservoir and did the bleeding to take out all the air bubbles. After all done, now I notice my right caliper is pressing lightly on my disc brake as I can here the light buzzing sound where b4 dis I use to hear only whenever I press on the brakes. And my lever pressure is inconsistent. On start of my ride, my lever would have allowance on an inch b4 e brake bites. After few min of ride, it just take a light tab and the brakes bite in hard. Anyone knows where I went wrong? Any tips or idea wat I should do and could help me out? Thanks in advance guy, sorry if my explanations abit long winded.

The pistons should slide in and out firm, but smoothly. Sounds like a sticky piston.. Get it checked out professionally man. Don't want to risk that much free play when riding man.

Bro,perhaps, you could apply some grease on the side of the pistons before inserting it into the brake caliper. Is the seals on the calipers still intact/worn out?Do check.I did have some friends with the same problem,Leaky piston seals...

Hey bros anyone here tried using Arashi brake rotors? Any reviews? I was quoted $350 for a pair of front brake rotors. Anyways to a more pressing issue.

My rear brake recently binded thus a mech changed my rear brake master pump kit. When he was diagnosing my rear brake problems, he pointed out that my rear brake rotor turned blue and my caliper is smokin hot. Now my brake is working ok but my caliper is still hot. Should I change my disc asap? If so, how much is OEM rear brake rotor or are there better aftermarket brake rotors?

Hey man. This kind of question too vague. U need to give more details for us who are nowhere near the bike to listen for ourselves. Is it the brake pads biting the disc sound or not? If it is then it's probably normal.

Hi ticks. Actually im not very clear how to explain just that this sound just came out a few days back when I press the rear brake. Dont think its the brake pads biting the disc sound.Anyway its fine, I'll just drop by the motorshop to see whats wrong. Thanks for yr advise.

Mine use to develop a knocking noise when I step the rear brake hard. It was caused by too much free play on the caliper. Had to retighten the wheel nuts.
