Maybe you should try bleeding

Anyway s4 brakes dun really "eat" well

If you want better braking power then you can change to aftermarket brake hose :)

if bleed of air still cannot, try spraying some oil to the brake pump.

the rear brakes are for slowing down in combination with the front. No issues on that.

is ur previous bike's brake syst single rotor for the front? if so, u hav gotten used to the braking pressure u apply for the previous bike, n maybe tt's y now u feel tt the rear brake of super4 has less braking power, cos super4 uses dual front rotor syst.

i also find S4 rear brake is very weak. got to apply more pressure than a light tap just to prevent it from rolling back on a slope. Last time when riding phantom its rear brake is very effective.

During stopping i normally apply 70% or more of front brake.

disc brake? as in s4 not using disc brake on the rear??

yup buttbutt8, i think all of us has the similar problem. front eat, rear dun eat.

unclevtec, maybe so. cos i riding phantom previously. but comparing rite, phantom rear brake seems more efficient to me leh?

ztaik, maybe u haf to check if ur brake pad is finishing? or it may be normal if ur brake pad is "black coated". my 2 cents (:

wonder why my rear brake disc was like kinda black, like burnt marks.. any wrong with the pads?

Your disk are already burnt. Need replacement, cause of problem pads rubbing against the disk while on the move thus causing over heating and causing material failure. Maybe your right leg's stepping on the brake pedal or your rear caliper's jam.

I don't have this problem of rear brake's not biting. Check your brake pads maybe it had been polished shiny. You need to go easy on your braking for the first 500kms as told by most brake pads manufacturer. If not your pads will actually be glazed and will not be as effective.

brake pad n rotors r alway in contact with each other. only no pressure is applied if brake pedal is not compressed.

anyway, brake pads shd b made of softer material compared to those of the discs. cos brake pad is a sacrificial item cos its cheaper than the discs. simple to say, we change brake pad more often than brake disc. salesman might say brand A pad is good, rossi is using. but thats for track use. road use? can use but not that suitable. anything wears out fast, need to replace, we as end users pay n not the salesman.

Yes of course they are constantly in contact with each other. What happens when apply additional pressure constantly? The brake pads will heats up and thus glazing the pads. If continue to use pressure and contact for the next several hundred kilometers then the result will be burnt brake rotors. Cos I use to face this problem my right leg will unknowingly apply pressure on the brake pedal thus the rotors got heated and turns blackish. I re-adjusted my riding position and now got no problem.

The rear brake is always less "efficience" for few reasons :

1) During braking, the bike weight will shift to front. The rear brake has less effect.

Under hard braking, the effect is more obvious. Until a point that, the rear wheel will lift up and lost contact from tarmac.

2) Rear brake 'too' efficient will cause wheel lock.

Thats why most of the bike (even for cars) has bigger disc brake at front but small (single disc or drum brake) at the rear.

i had this prob too... every bike shop i go will ask me to change my brake disc due to roughness on the surface and brake pad cannot eat properly at the brake disc.

yes yes, went to my motordiam today, i ask em why they change new brakepad for me still dun eat. last tym tell me need some time to season. but after 300-500km still the same.

this tym they help me check thoroughly. is bcos the rear disc plate not flat anymore (rough surface) tts why cannot eat.

how about concentrating more on front brakes ? rear brakes r never more efficient than the front

school always teaches 70% front 30% back..

rear brake not biting a lot doesnt matter.. unless you say not biting at all..

you dun wanna do counter steering when you jam e-brakes with a very sensitive rear brakes..

thinking about it, why does rear tire tend to skid ah? they are bigger then the front one what?

is it because of the weight throw forward thing when we're braking so the rear tire 'lighter'?
