where can i get TOKICO in sg?

btw, thkz bro.

I'm not sure man.... try asking around spare part dealers in desker road and/or bike forums. If you on tight budget... NISSIN calipers perform well.... but not as well as BREMBO. But its enough.

BTW, what is the qualifications to be calling oneself a encik?

I believe its either religious, that one is of a certain age or being to pilgrimage?

or was it some kinda respect thingy, that one only call someone a encik, if that person is respectable? Do you tell people to call you encik?

I believe, that in the SAF. One is only called a encik due to a certain rank and portfolio?

Does anyone knows?

Do you call someone a Encik because of respect for that person?

or is it just a overblown ego to demand that others call you a encik?

In SAF, just be a warrant officer and can be called encik. Portfolio doesn't matter, as far as I know. I always wondered about female warrant officers. Are they also addressed as encik or cik gu (I'm assuming it's the feminine version of encik. Pardon the spelling if it's wrong) ?

Ok. So thats just in the SAF?

To members of the public, or to a different uniform oganisation, can a SAF officer demand that he be addressed as Encik?

I thought the female version of Encik is Cik?

Encik is Mister. Cik is Miss. Cikgu is Teacher.

I remember back in my NS, we only used Sir and Cikgu. Sir/Ma'am was for anyone higher than your rank, but we sometimes used it on everyone else, even the those lower ranked then us, out of respect and Cikgu was used for those regular, seasoned driving instructors.

Hmm.....my understanding is that in the SAF, the Encik is only used by the juniors & seniors when they refer to some officer that is kinda hentak kaki most experienced junior officer (I think was described to me, are the drill instructors responsible for the drill grounds/field.) The Encik is form of respect to differentiate that this 'encik' aka instructor. Something like a CDI.

Eg. All newbies aka NS boys assembled on the ground will address their drill officer: Encik.

All senior officer, if respecting that drill officer will maybe mention for example when talkign to a junior officer: "Is this how you greet a senior officer? Go to Encik Chan now and tell him to give you 20!' Along that line......

Or the newer ones, will tell that NS boy with the name of the fella: 'Go to KNS Chan now and tell him, you are to drop 20!'

The Encik is form of respect. But only for addressing other people. Not for one to demand to be addressed as such.

Because its understood. You are considered male, until you indicated for example at the end of your letter. a Singature that include in a (Mrs) for married personnel, (Miss) for unmarried female letter writer or (Madam) for status neither here or there. You dont demand that people call you 'Mister' or 'Encik'.

Though somehow, modern (Americanised) letter writing and adressing of people has changed. But to demand to be addressed as 'Encik' when one is not Muslim or only hold the 'Encik' salutation, is kinda indication of a ego.

I address a female SAF personnel by her rank if she's lower rank than me and if had a higher rank i call her Mam-=short for madam.

we are a bit sexist then we reserve the encik for male staff Sergent and above for non-com.

Back in my day, if i called the senior officer by name, also can sometimes. If need to communicate with him or her alot, after some time, some of them will say,

"Aiya, don't need to call me Sir la. Call me can already!"

Sometimes, very cute. I address the senior officer as Sir, he address me as Sir back, then end up, the whole place call each other Sir, regardless of rank!

Then many times, if the senior officer don't know my name, they just call me bro. We never, ever call someone just by their rank. My whole NS career, no one has ever called me Corporal, nor have i called anyone Sergeant before. I have said to others before, "I will get my In-charge, Head, Supervisor, Man, Boy etc." but never "My corporal, Sergeant etc."

Haha. Good times... Good times...

I usually have no problem calling anyone Sir. Nor call them as Mister. Even females, I can easily call Ms, Mrs or Mdm. Nothing wrong with being polite.

I only had to indicate on my letters that I am a Madam, and am used to being adressed as Madam, well, because I am neither Single or Married.

I had problems before, when I didnt indicate that I am a female in my letters, and I got guys refusing to answer my letters because my name sounds like a guy's name. They scared I am going to turn into a gay stalker.

Somehow, a Auntie style salutation stalker.....the boys are not so scared.....

Anyway, folks are used to my odd names and I even answer to 'VK'.

And I have a tendency to address anyone with 'Babe', 'Dearie', 'Xiao mei' chinese little sister/gal or 'xiao Gua' chinese little cucumber/pumpkin.

Kinda my own Auntie/Big Sister/Motherly kinda psychology.

For me, i address guys as 'Bro' and the ladies as 'Babe'.

How to learn singapore roads?

I don't have confident to travel to unfamiliar places :(

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:
