I parked my car outside one of those private house this evening at Thomson. I was waiting for a friend to come. This old aunty (around 50 to 60 years old) came shouting at me that I cannot wait outside her house coz "she bought the land". I just ignored her coz I told her the roads are govt property.

Friend came, we went dinner and came back. I saw her write "NO PARKING" on my car with marker. She started shouting again and said she wrote it on my car. If I am parking on double yellow line, isnt it up to the authorities to fine me and not up to her to take the law in her own hands?

Called police, they gave her a warning and let her off because of her age!! The joke of it, I had to wash and get rid of the writing myself. She vandalises my car and I do the dirty work....whats wrong with our police?

One of those cranky, territorial old woman who bought the land with her hard earned money. Even I don't do such things if someone parks their car outside my home. Outside the gate, yes, I'll get mad 'cos it's blocking my way, but outside the home? nah

If the man who bashed up another guy which resulted in four broken teeth did not get arrested cos it is a civil case, what more with the vandalization of your car? Yours is also a civil case. Police got no power of arrest. You want further action, you have to haul that old woman to court... :sian:

I have a practice of covering my bike whenever I park my bike around my area. (There are quite a number of cats prowling on nice bike seats and warm bike engine.) I use clips to hold the cover so that it doesn't fly up! However, this morning when I open up my bike, I noticed that 2 of my clips were stolen! :faint:

My dad was telling me to tie up the bike cover instead! But how? Do you guys know the best way to tie up the bike cover?

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

If your bike cover has those metal ring holes at the bottom, then you can tie both ends with strings or wires. However if don't have, cannot tie... :goodluck:

Whenever I see other bikers squeeze through traffic, I always have a dilemma. I don't whether to squeeze or not. End up, I don't. I just got my license not too long ago. And I don't really know how to squeeze. Can you guys share how you squeeze through traffic?

Best not to squeeze if you can help it. Safer that way... :)

NO they wont think you are lousy...

Sometimes, its not safe to squeeze. And i rather has someone occupy a lane which i can squeeze in to share with that rider and ride safely to my destination.

I agree with ViciousKitty74. If in doubt, don't.

When you have beach bars on your bike, you'll learn to be a lot more cautious. But when change back to a bike with shorter handlebars, squeezing and manoeuvering is a piece of cake.

take times (: even until now, getting licence and riding for 3 mths, i still dun squeeze. after riding for only 3 mths, ive seen alot of cars who changed lane like their grandfather road. dun need signal and jus change. so, i always have de phobia, later i squeeze, they suddenly change. kaka.

and well, which explains why i very very seldom squeeze. unless is like heavy jams on expressway. on normal road, even if it means traffic light, i will still stop behind vehicles if there is one.

can ask those who rode with me ;D they know im not gd at it, and dun like it, they stayed behind with me. lols. if not they go ahead with de road, and they know i'll catch up with them.

lols.

If you are not in a hurry or feels that squeezing don't make any difference, don't squeeze.

If you have to squeeze, do it when all other vehicles are stationary and go through with caution. Try not to go between two moving vehicles, they might play punk with you and you will end up being sandwiched.

Don't be bother by what others will think of you, when you die on the road do you think anybody will pity you?

They will say that you are stupid, that's all.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Although it is not officially against the law here to squeeze (or also know as lane splitting) I have to say that ReBornBikeR have pointed out the correct way to "squeeze" in between cars. I think it does not take much road experience to notice that it is filled with selfish and moronic users.

Personally I have met with countless incidents of cars trying to close the gap when they see me approaching. Also try to spot for gaps along the lanes in a slow moving traffic. Slow down and expect to meet an opportunistic driver dashing suddenly across just to get "a little more ahead" (without signaling or checking for traffic).

And I would like to emphasis (again that) as ReBornBikeR have pointed out, most road users don't have your interest in heart. Noticed the increase of hit and run cases reported lately?

I'm a very new road user. And yes, it didn't take me long to know that the road is filled with selfish and moronic users. I've already encountered incidents that you mentioned here on a very regular basis.

And upon looking at disheartening reports on hit and run cases, I just ride defensively without squeezing (in fact, looking out for those who would squeeze through my bike or cut in front of me)... I suppose nothing means more than your own safety! :thumb:

haix. i really feel frustered when i donated $6 for buying 3pens total. but when my friends told me that its actually a scam. when they all buy pens 40-50cents. and sell ppl 1 pen $2 each. so i hope to inform ppl. NEVER BUY PENS FROM PPL when they approach u at shopping centre.

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:
