Hi Alvin,

Need some more info about the plugs. I am planning to change mine as I am not sure when my previous owner last changed them and I havent got them serviced or changed since last 8k kms.

Are both the left side and right side spark plugs identical? Is there any size or specification for the spark plugs?

Is NGK iridium better or is NGK Platinum better?

both sides are the same

uncle mj posted the model number for both the iridium and platinum ones

iridium is better but it burns off faster than platinum

platinum is sufficient...

when was your last EO change?

EO change was done when i got my bike from the owner..

did you notice any oil residue at your enging, side stand, main stand, below your engine area?

nope nothing as such...

what you can do is wash your engine area clean and put your bike on side stand with a piece or newspaper/rough paper on the floor...

check it the next day to see if there is any stains on the paper...

if it is from your EO drain bolt, can use a T wrench to tighten it...

yep will keep monitoring the oil level as well as any oil leak on the floor..

yep need to take note

in theory engine should not be "drinking" EO

the EO is use to lubricate your moving parts in your engine and cool the engine(P200)

EO will normally be lost through leak, thinning out and evaporate over super super long time

so the quality of the EO also plays a part

when draining out your EO not all will come out as there will still be some left on your engine parts

the mileage of your last EO change is when or how long have you been running on this change of EO?

Wah your spark plugs why change so fast? Mine first change was at 10k km.. the plugs still look brand new.. so my 2nd change was after another 15k km, the plugs still look brand new.... but i will continue to change at 15k km just to be safe.

i'm using ngk platinum.

But for engine oil i usually use fuch silkolene 15w50 semi syn. usually change between 2500 to 3000 km. my latest servicing i am trying out mobil 1 10w40. although some say that better oil can last more km.. but don't forget ours is only 1.2L of engine oil, there is only so much fluid capacity to suspend the carbon particles.

congrats on getting your 2B...

a few things first...

1) how much is your budget?

2) there are currently 3 models of pulsar...P180 UG4,P200,135 LS...pros and cons for each...

3) mainainence wise go for regular servicing according to the manual you will be fine...of course there will be the normal wear and tear parts...

about RM$35 per bottle. Change at JB agl one of the corner mech shops. The mech know me so usually will give a bit of discount.

I like sikolene semi syn as it is thicker than mobil 1 and i feel it dampens a bit more vibration. so much so I barely notice the vibrations anymore.. maybe i got used to it. but now that I have changed to mobil 1.. noticed the vibrations again.

Also, with silkolene, I have no problem doing cold start in the morning with normal idle. but mobil1 i need to pull choke for about 10 secs.

but mobil1 has its advantages as well. I feel its able to rev a little higher with less throttle. this should translate to a little better mileage?

some road user r really f up.. esplanade traffic light forever bus beat red light and some cars are really too much.. wish i got the power to do something to these people

Steady ah bro. Let them beat whatever lights they want, coz if we're ever caught in between them, we're dead meat. It's better for us to concentrate on the road rather than getting upset over these Mfk@#%!$%^%$&&(**(). My common logic is, we hit them = we suffer. They hit us = we suffer. So , better not to hit or be hit. Just be careful. We enjoy our ride. Maybe, when the karma wheels turn against them, then they know..... :>

hmmm .. how come you nd to pull choke at coldstart? .. I've been using Mobil1 FS since my 2nd running in and nd not pull choke ley ...

to pull choke indicates idle rpm too low since pulsar manual book stated idle rpm is ard 1400rpm +-100

a rule of thumb to know if the AFR (air fuel ratio) is suffificient or not is to have the bike starts at first ignition without using throttle.

good and clean spark plugs also play a part to have good ignition and combustion...

manual book stated to change every 10000km ..

and a new spark plug can save at least 5% on the the mileage!!

just my share here lah

Cheers!!

i always choke when start bike, need to throttle when starting. that's wht um mech told me. dont know why so much diff than others. o_O

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

aiyohhhh .. our climate no winter lah so like said pull choke is not abt EO ley .. but more too spark plug and AFR ...

clean plug is one thing but the gap also is another thing ... average min 0.7-0.9mm max for NGK platinum

Iridium is the most sensitive when comes to gap distance to have it's optimal ingition for good combustion!

btw manual book for stock plug is 0.7-0.8mm max.

how to check? .. can get the plug tuning tool at AutoBacs Bukit Batok!! price around $5 or lesser .. forgot already .. hehehe

cheers!
