Can you post the exact link please ? went to bikemart but could find the right page..

If you scroll down on the page, under useful tools->Bike Insurance Quote

http://www.singaporebikes.com/bikemart/

After submitting the quote I actually called the company WTT insurance agency (Ph 62946259) that Arthur gave. They actually gave the same figure $163 after 10% NCD from MSIG. But they need the Renewal notice letter from my previous insurance company,NTUC so that I can get the 10% NCD.

Unfortunately, I had changed my house and NTUC have my old address so I dont have the renewal notice letter. I need to check with NTUC if they can provide me with another copy.

Anyways, If it works out with MSIG it will be a savings of 25$. Thats awesome. Thanks Arthur, you are an angel :)

Nope just Third Party. Theft is the last thing that I am worried about in Singapore. And bikes catching fire, I haven't heard of that either. :)

Oh ok - yeah well, what can I say, I'd rather put $150 more a year and get my bike covered if some moron hurts my beloved Shadow :)

Which reminds me, the other day I had a look at my bike papers, and I was reminded of it's official value : less than 2k... it's amazing how much money we pay in Singapore to cover import taxes and all that stuff.. :faint:

Saw 1 accident last week, and another one this morning. Both on Bukit Timah road, one at a junction, one at the end of the "tunnel". Both between 2 cars.

Definitely full moon syndrom these days. Or maybe there's something in the kopi or tea these days !

Be careful with the rain, make sure you're visible, and make sure your lights all work well ! I often see bikes without proper front and back lights.. after 5pm it gets darker, and when it rains, I wonder how they except driver to see them..

i dont expect drivers to see me, they just need to fear me, now that my zoro is equip with 3 swords. :D

Thanks Arthur, you are an angel :)

shh, i'm actually a devil in disguise.

if for new bikes, 1st 2 yr i will get 3rd pt+fire+theft. after that i find it's not really worth the value u pay, ur paper value depreciate so great, even when u claim, only a few hundred dollars. so unless i'm parking in a high risk area, i wont op for fire+theft, unless my bike is cl2, then diff story.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

btw, bikemart only has 1 company giving quote, if u guys r not urgent to renew, can source around other alternative. diff company might give diff quotes.

Well, I bought the bike new and I read scary stories on SBF about people getting their bike stolen (in SG) and also catching fire for stupid reasons, so for me it's without hesitation..

I think the day I get a Ducati I'll get a 10th party theft fire ice earthquake tsunami volcano lava alien invasion insurance.

I guess if I had bought my bike brand new may be I would have thought the 150$ is worth it. But I bought it second hand for like 1.7k and the IDV(official value) of the bike was 1.3k.

I agree fire can happen but what are the chances of it happening. I would say risk is very less. We are bikers and by riding we are actually the biggest risk takers. We risk are own lives. When we can take that risk then the likely of fire or theft making me lose 1.7k, I dont mind taking that risk :cheeky:

Official value of my bike bought new last year is 1.6k .. I don't think the insurance coverage is based on this, otherwise people would never get the money to do repairs after accidents. Imagine, if a Pulsar needs 1.5k of repairs and the insurance says it's more than it's value ? I think the official value is just to give a mark for the import tax and give an idea of the value if stolen, but the insurance would base their coverage on the bike's retail price.

I was under the impression that the maximum claim can be only upto the official value of the vehicle.

I tried to look up for this information.

http://www.axa.com.sg/viewdownload.aspx?file=478fi_354.pdf&ofile=SmartDrive++Policy+Wording.pdf

The above link says the maximum claim can be upto the Market Value of the vehicle. Not sure whether market value is same as the IDV.

EDIT: Actually you are right. The definition of Market Value is "This is the assessed value of the Insured Vehicle at the time of the accident, arrived at bycomparing retail prices for vehicles of the same make, model, age and condition."

So yeah, my bad, a brand new bike its definitely work taking up the TPFT for the small increase in premium. For a cheap second hand bike may be the value of bike is not worth it.

back from my holiday and finally finished reading all the new posts from the forum

DIY oiler is really cheap. Go aquarium shop can settle everything.

Only thing is it doesn't look so nice.

the lever for use in fish tanks will tend to leak after some time

as they are designed for water not chain lube or oil

I tink alvin n duno who else r professional diy oiler mechanics..can make a nicer job..or can copy mine since i use ezzyoiler

if you are lazy to DIY ezyoiler is really a good choice

he will do it nicely for you

example like class 2 clutch. As the class go higher the clutch got harder right?

try with WD40 already. but like still same

anyone got Spare clutch to let go?

harder clutch on bigger cc bikes are cause they use hydraulic clutch

not reali bro..the clutch is adjustable on how tight u wan it to be. or can change to ASV levers..will never break or bend..so they claim

the lever is 1 thing

is whether you are using cable clutch or hydraulic clutch

so the lever needs to suit the use

Help!!! Second day of my pulsar and the engine oil is leaking! When left there for awhile, will have a small puddle of oil below the engine. A mech told me the engine thread or something wearing out, maybe need overhaul. Anyone can help?

clean off the oil at the engine area

park the bike overnight on a piece of newspaper/white paper

observe where the leak is from

might just be your drain bolt is loose or the thread in the bolt is spoilt

even if gasket leaking it will cost $30+ or $50+ to change depend on which side

Readng back some old posts - Alvin, did you change your battery ?

Mine is always showing these figures. Never more than 12V when I start - usually 11.9V.

Then on the road, doesn't go above 14.2 or 14.3

And idle voltage when stopped at red lights is usually 13V around there. I thought all this was normal.. o_O

Doesn't it depend on how many things are plugged to your battery ? Like for me there's the horn, the earth plug, the alarm, the bullets and the Nightbreaker headlight.

hmm

can't remember my problem and how it was solved

now all is normal
