No squeaking sound with the new pads? Hows the braking performance? My rear brakes almost useless; almost as good as not being there.

Definitely a rear disc (maybe from apache RTR) sounds good. Also, the handle bar shake is annoying and at times scary. If these 2 problems are solved, Pulsar is definitely a "keeper"...

Hope u get ur issues fixed asap..brakin is 1 of e most essential of ridin..if ur rear brake is useless..hw to slow down to avoid a collision..handebar probably gotta make it heavier wif balancers or change to those thicker type of handlebars. Good luck

or, they don;t want a rider to keep complaining about something they can;t do anything about, so they recommend to change to new pads.

I have tried cleaning the dirt off, drying the pads, the squeeking is still there or comes back after 2 days.. so really, once the brakes start squeeking, there's nothing you can do, unless you're prepared to check them every week.

i say it's best to change to new pads. $13 the pair from Dickerson Road.

$13 every week, hummm...

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Turbans are worn only by a particular minority religion in India, called sikhs. They are mainly from northern state of Punjab in India.

The handle bar shake seems to be some problem with your steering cone. Its not normal.

YThe breaking is so far so good, very good. I feel much more confident in my braking. I know the feeling of almost not having brakes. if your cable is tight enough and you still feel like that, my advice is to change the pads.

As for the handle bar, i don;t really get that part.. MJ too was telling me about how he ditched his rizoma end weights because they weren't heavy enough and he felt numbness in his hands because of the shaking.

To be honest, i only realized the vibrations when i watched my camera's footage when it recorded while mounted on the handle bar :cheeky:

I don;t know, having no other experience with a bike whatsoever, maybe it doesn't bother me as much.. Or maybe the long arms help me reduce vibrations haha.. I don't feel any discomfort, but maybe it;s because i don't ride for very long hours at once ? The pillion does say that the left pillion foot rest gets extra mega vibrating at "high" speed (around 100km/h) - don;t know why the left one only, but here you go, some other strange vibrating symptom..

Check if all your handle bar screws are tightened and if they are, or you can get a bar placed in the middle of the handlebar, that could help reduce vibrations.

$13 every week, hummm...

Oh please.. never said that. it's probably once or twice a year, when the squeeking becomes so annoying you can't take it anymore and it coincides with poor braking :)

Thats correct. The shop name is Keng Seng Co. There are 2 Keng Sengs there one near the red board and one near the blue board. You need to go to blue board. He is a bit cheaper.

What do you want to do there?

Izit near the main road or deeper inside? I'm helping my fwen later to bring his almoz retired rxz which was bought for $600 to repair. So idiot of him to get a cheap bike which can't even ride up a mscp slope. Even better it can't even idle on itz own. Hav to keep reving.

My rear brake also useless, lah. If I just rely on my rear brake then may be the braking distance is 1 km. lol. Its that bad. I tried changing the brake shoe still no effect. May be I am not tapping very hard. The pulsar I had in India just a light tap and the rear brake would work. This pulsar for some reason may be need to tap really hard.

Anyways my instant reaction in case of emergency braking is always to grab the front brakes and the clutch. Its a habit and it wont change and I have done it successfully in many emergency situations. So I think the rear brakes not working properly is not really an issue, for me.

So I "CHANGED" the sterring cone. I still wont say, its solid feeling. Maybe I need to change to thicker handle bars.

It is near the main road as soon as you turn from Ave 3

Bro I would suggest to look for a 2 stroke bike expert to fix the issue. Try posting on the RXZ forum or search for any recommended bike shops for RXZ.

Also could be if your rear box is too heavy or the rack design is long and the box is far from the bike.

I get the same handlebar shaking feeling, at low speeds, when I load my rear box full of groceries from Mustafa and there is no pillion.

When I drive at 90-100, i can feel the brake lever [on the right foot] vibrating like hell. So, I can imagine how my wife feels as the pillion. No wonder she seldom wants to go out with me

Maybe sinnob sprockets will fix that.

bikes are imported, so the Pulsar you get in India is the same you get here, unless you're using a different year/model of Pulsar.

Agree that once the rear pads are worn out a bit, they really loose their bite. Mechs told me I can keep them for quite a while still, but they had zero efficacity for me. I felt like I could only rely on the front brake, which I don;t really know how to do, i just feel better my tapping with the foot. Tightening the rear brake cable does help a lot, maybe in your case it would be a solution, so you'll get a quicker bite. it won;t help as to brake faster obviously, but it will give you that sensation of actively braking, at least you don;t have to wonder if you;re doing it right, because you'll feel the wheel being grabbed - it's just that it grabs it, but the damn wheel continues to turn !!

I wouldn;t grab the clutch in e-brake. That's the last thing to do, literally. Clutching in causes your bike to free wheel, it sort of counter balances the effect of braking. Only clutch in when you've stopped - you have there a second to clutch to avoid stalling. But even if you stall, it's really not a problem. You can clutch in and start again. better stall then screw up your e-brake because you clutched in too early !

Me I have another way of e-braking: I don;t speed :cheeky:

Or, if I'm going fast , I keep my distances, I ask myself "How reliable is Shadow's braking?" -> automatically my hand closes the throttle lol...

This is the only one reason i think I'm eager to try another bike (besides the dream factor) , to experience what it is to use ABS brakes, something that as soon as you touch it, BAM, it gets you to full stop in a heartbeat ! :)

You will have to wait for the newly launched TVS apache RTR 180 with ABS, maybe it will come to SG in a year's time.

When in India I owned a bike from bajaj and one from TVS suzuki. The TVS bike was called Fiero; 150cc... It was hands down the best motor I have played with. Although it had just 4 gears to play with the bike was absolutely revv happy.. The weakest point in the bike was that it was structurally weak. The RTR is an improvement from that motor and needless to say .. lots of structural improvements. I'd be happy to try it out [especially the one with ABS].

I am so used to the shape of the bike and its weight that it will take me some "getting used to" for any other bike.

Once I tried riding my cousin's Hero Honda Hunk. I just felt its too sporty for me with handlebars a bit too low. I just love the Pulsar :).

sometimes you need to open up to sand down and use air gun to blow off the brake dust...

drum brake does not work the same way as a disc brake...disc brake uses the caliper to clamp down on the brake disc thus the stopping...in the case of drum brakes, when you tap the brake,a device expands and your brake pads will rub against the wall of the hub causing the slowing and stopping...

ABS=Anti-lock Braking System

is not use for instant stopping or better braking...

it is meant for preventing your brakes from locking up when you brake too hard and hence not skidding and shorter braking distance...

when you brake hard and the ABS system detects it, it will automatically releases the brake slightly and brake again...

preventing your wheel from locking up...

for handlebar vibrations, a few methods can be done to reduce it...

heavier bar ends(our stock ones are quite good as they are super heavy), handlebar brace(reduces slightly but it helps a bit),steering damper(super ex option)...

and please don't ride with only 1 hand on the handlebar at high speeds and say its vibrating a lot...thats natural...

O'ren,

my cam is mounted on my handlebar and the vibration is minimal...

does the gopro cam have image stabaliser?

try adding form paddings at the bottom of the cam when mounted on the handlebar...

anyway gopro has the handle br mouting kit with the universal 1/4" screw for their cams...

Absolutely.. Pulsar has the best riding style. The first time I got onto a pulsar.. I was hooked..

On the topic of driving license, a quick recap of how I got my license... In 1996, I had a friend who claimed to have some influencial friends in the RTO office. He told me, if i paid him 500 Rs, he will get me a license without me having to show up for any tests or whatever. And being a true indian, i immediately gave him the money. In a week or so, he gave me a license as well. I was proud and I was driving with it without a worry in the world. I got pulled over by a few cops and I would flash my license at them.. No problem... One day, I wanted to get a car license [My father thought I am good for nothing in school, so he asked me to learn to drive a car so u can drive a taxi..]. I took my license to a driving school and found out that my license was fake. I had been using a fake license made by this dude for 4 years. In the meantime I had gotten into some serious accidents and still flashed my fake license at people.. Immediately I discarded that license and got a new one, having mastered driving [by accident].

hmm... Happy days! In hindsight I feel.. "What an idiot, no wonder my dad thought what he thought".
